And the key to taping or any support for that matter would be not to add extra weight to the ear keep anything that you might use as light weight as possible for support up, nor to weigh it down by accident.  Can you take a current pic of her and post:  if it is the same as what Susie posted in WD edu that ear looks broken to me and what age was that??

Nans. even if the cartilage is broken, it can heal sufficiently to keep the ear erect IF it is kept supported for a long enough period of time.  My namesake dog's ears were both up by 12 weeks and stayed that way--until I made the mistake of taking her to work with me because several folks there wanted to meet her, and one of them [who meant no harm, truly, but knew F*-all about not roughly manhandling the ears of a still-maturing German Shepherd]. Hexe was around 8 months old at the time, and my coworker put a horizontal break in the cartilage about midway up the pinna when she dropped to her knees in front of the dog, grabbed both of Hexe's ears from behind, and started vigorously kneading them between her fingers as if the were made of clay that wanted working up. Of course I snatched the woman up and off my pup, but the damage to the left ear was already done, and it sadly drooped. On my way home from work, I stopped at the first drugstore I passed, bought a pack of moleskin, and fashioned a brace for the ear. I kept the ear braced for 4 months, steadily, and the cartilage was able to heal enough to keep the ear standing normally--but you could always see where the break was, and you could feel it as well.

Thus my suggestion to the OP that he return to using the brace for Utta and keep the ear supported for even longer than I did, because I took care of Hexe's ear immediately after it was broken whereas if there's been a break in the cartilage of Utta's ear, it's not a fresh one and will take longer to set back the way it should be.
