Well I wished I could add something positive;  however, my experience has been surgical intervention, NO CHEMO's;  but with surgical intervention if at all possible it did buy my girl and healthy 13 months;  vet removed as much as he could of adianosarcoma started in my girls mammary gland on the outside the size of a pea;  inside not as lucky.  Had already spread and attached to several organs which he removed as much as he could (but could not get all) and placed a shunt to hopefully keep from spreading any more or at least at a slower rate.  She did well for about 12 months;  shortly after that I knew it was spreading at a fairly rapid rate and she died a month later.  But the time it did buy her was very good although I did not push her hard, she played, ate well and took her walks with the pack which made her very happy.  So  best of luck  with your girl.  Nan

I can't spell adeianosarcoma;  maybe that a good thing, a blessing in disguise.  Sorry... but

Hello nans,  I am so sorry to hear of your loss, and the loss and heartbreak of everyone here, who as shared their experience in losing a much loved GSD to this particular disease.

All immune related IMO. I heard that a genetic test may soon be available for HID.

What is HID?

I lost a female to lymphoma several years ago. She was only 4. I chose not to treat other than with steroids and some homeopathic remedies. The only consultation is it is not a painful cancer, they just get weaker and more tired. She had a couple of good months after diagnosis.

i don't regret not treating her cancer.

it is a hard thing to go through. Sorry you are faced with this.

My Chip died 2 years ago next month to sinus cancer and I wanted to add that should you decide to not take the Chemo treatment, please don't let the vet make you feel bad. This happened to me and judgements were placed on our client/vet relationship. I stopped going to the vet and stopped referring other clients to her over it. I did the research and decided against the chemo. Who was a vet to think I made the wrong decision and chastise me for it.

It's a very hard thing to go through and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Good luck to you. Whatever decision you make will be the right one.

Barb
