first of all there are many czech and west dogs that i think are great dogs too, but wouldnot be patroldog material in my book, just depends on what you are looking for, if you are planning on going for competitions and points these are not the type of dogs you want, my dogs are mostly called to sharp and too much interest in what is going on around them, not good for IPO, but you need it on patroldogs.
there is not so much mystery , most people want to buy fame and flavour of the day and dont look much further than the famous names we all know, and for someone in the USA it is much more difficult to find out what is going on besides what is in the picture and promoted

in ZVV competition ive seen several good dogs coming over  Yvon z pohranicni straze,
my young male I was talking about comes from Max cerny obelisk, strong lines from gero chmelovi kvitek/ Cir Vrtovske doliny and others, bred to line I love for these caracters out of Akim Cerna Vlnka , son of Fany Kamos,
Fany is sister to Furo Kamos, super bloodline over O litter Z danaru, Cordon Ansat, obviously also sire of Tom Z ps
Furo Kamos /Piko (Jinopo)

here is pedigree of my young male  http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=2137127-dandal-od-janice
another female of my breeding that would fit the bill   http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=2014710-ovo-kerry-van-de-duca-vallei
and http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=746074-kirby-cita-van-de-duca-vallei

some other Jinopo dogs(will only talk about those I personally seen work , Mambo Atilla, Jago, and more recently  one I really like is Kenn Jipo me and Orion

another strong dog/line would be Amigo Zamat combining (again) Tom Z Ps and Honza Okal/Car kostolianskej cesty  (sireline of Norbo Ben Ju , many great Okal dogs, Leo Durko, tanja la grua, Chabet litter etc)

there are several more around and also I dont know all of them Wink Smile

most important is that if you breed these dogs/lines to a sportdog and select the crazy balldrive sportypups, the names on your pedigree will mean nothing really as in old style czech dogs

Thank you Hank and Duke. This is very useful information, corroborates what some others have said about these dogs elsewhere. Especially valuable is the information about the breeding age dogs.Thumbs Up

@Duke1965
You said what you like about Czech was the on/off switch.  You found a lot of WGWL to not have this?  I really want to focus on getting to know my pup and not focus on training in the beginning (other than the basics).  I want more of an off switch inside, but when in the yard I want him to know we are going to work.  In your experience what do you do?  ie.  I would like to keep my curtains :)

@Duke1965
please tell me more about Orion. you mentioned him above. You said you have seen him work? any iformation is appreciated

by duke1965 on 11 March 2014 - 12:03

@ Templars, virtual dog training is hard to do LOL you should find a good trainer where you can go with your dog and work on what you want, calm when not working and active when working is what I like in a dog, but I like it there geneticly,

@ Giorgia    not so much to tell, he is a dog I like, hard grips, gives strong fight, is in there for real and not to play fetch with the sleeve

Yeah I was told the on/off switch is more genetic.  I'm going to get training.. But won't happen until about 4-6 months.  I didn't know if there was something easy to work on now with the pup to start programming him to be calmer in the house and energy outside

Hi, Templars. You should start before 4-6 months with the behavior you want from your pup if your pup is more WG WLs. If you are going to do a lot of flirt pole and building ball chasing drives, you will be building excitement and prey drive in your pup. There is no need to "build" on tha t with a pup which has it genetically. Instead, focus, focus and calm. Quiet gets rewards. The pup sits quietly, a little food reward is given. At feeding time, sitting quietly gets the food bowel placed in front of the pup.
Out side, "calmness" gets rewarded. Instill in the pup at a very early age that calm and quiet are desired. Never reward hectic, barking in a pup which does not have the genetic on/off switch.
Advice from your trainer, if your trainer understands your goals, is important.

Thanks for your wisdom as always Joanro!

That's only a tiny bit to consider...you've already got the best trainer there is to help you. ;-)
