Chapter 3, Section 5 of the Rules Applying to Registration and Discipline reads as follows:
"No dog or litter out of a dam under eight (8) months or over twelve (12) years of age at the time of mating, or by a sire under seven (7) months or over twelve (12) years of age at the time of mating, will be registered unless the application for registration shall be accompanied by an affidavit or evidence which shall prove the fact to the satisfaction of The American Kennel Club."

Jenni, that was my understanding of their breeding program.  But I didnt know if the "use him as stud" comments were an indication of changed policy.

This might be a dump question, but why should a breeder or owner of a male not allow outside studs in general?
I never heard about this practice.

susie- alot of breeders don't want the hassle of bringing in outside bitches for breedings, or have the time involved to go pick one up from the airport, transport back home, do the breedings, then transport back to the airport. Its alot of time/hassle that some people just don't have, or don't want to fool with.

If that were the case CMills, a stud owner could just require the bitch to be accompanied by the owner/handler/whoever for each breeding versus a blanket "no outside breeding" statement.

Well he might be 9 years old but I will tell you he looks very happy in his new home.  Hopefully many good years to come.  At least 3 to keep producing that we know of.  That is as long as any dog usually produces in one kennel probably is 3 years, you have to go for outside blood at some point.  Best of luck for this boy...

Hi everyone. Very new to the working dog world. I can appreciate the sport and I in the other hand had an unfortunate event that happened to me and family that required me to get a dog to protect my family. I'am always reading on this forum to learn more about training due to the fact that I really am not using my dog probably to his full potential. The reason why I am posting this was just to say that I have a dog that I bought from Adlerhorst that was bred by drago. Sounds like drago is a big deal.   I personally don't have the experience to say what nerves and what not about my dog but that he is an awesome dog. My kids love him and that I know for a fact that he would protect us. Sorry if this is a waste of time for u guys but I just thought it would be cool to say I have one of his sons. :)

"My kids love him and that I know for a fact that he would protect us."

thats all good, i say back that if you love yr kids then check yr assumption that any dog at all will protect you no matter how cool you think the dog is.
