Bob
The WUSV cannot change the rules for one country, the USA is not alone in having two seperate bodies. We here in Belgium have to compete against each other meaning the Flemish side against the Wallonie Guys, i.e French speaking side. For me personally that is how it should be, Not have different selection trials. All together and the best Dog and Handlers go through regardless of what organisation they are affiliated too. If the WUSV change it for the USA team where will that leave Belgium and other countries. i am sure over here every one is happy the way it is. Simple fact if you are good enough to compete for the honour of your sport and country then compete together and PROVE it

Or if there is someone truly having trouble paying for a room in Philadelphia that qualified. It may not be at the host hotel and it won't be the Waldorf Astoria but it will be something along the lines of a quality inn or holiday inn. I would cover checking in on the 15th checking out the 20th

it is easier for me for a US based person but with some creativity I may be able to get it for an international person as well it has to do with the company I book my travel through

I guess I should say this offer does have an expiration date because the closer it gets the price of the rooms go up. (ESP for Philadelphia)

I have not checked the dates of the 2014 qualification trials yet but if someone knows now they are going to try and qualify please let me know.   The further in advance for 2014 I know the cheaper I can get rooms and can probably do more.

Hey Steve:

It,s not USA asking to change the rules it,s the WDA asking. What it boils down isn,t a money issue as they have tried to insinuate  it,s a  weak organization issue the WDA is a small organization which can,t even put on enough trials to satisfy it,s dwindling numbers let alone field a full 10 teams to compete for spots on the world team at the combined trial !. The problem is with the combined trial it,s looking more and more possible that USA may be sending the bulk of the competitors going to the worlds and WDA see,s that writing on the wall so there now saying it,s too much of a financial burden to do the trialing!. If the WDA cant present a full competition team to compete for the world spots they may loose favor with the parent organization (GSDCA) that they need to even exist.

I don't know if the date and/or location for the Qualifier for 2014 has been decided.  I know that the club that bid to host it on the West Coast was turned down--seems WDA does not want to have it on the West Coast-period.  Perhaps USCA is in on that, as well.  I don't know.  I just know that the opportunity for primo tracking in the PNW was rejected.

I thought I had heard or read something about St Louis but that is off the top of my head

by SitasMom on 06 August 2013 - 20:08

Someone has offered to host in St. Louis, don't know what the status is.

by troopscott on 06 August 2013 - 21:08

St. Louis would probably be about as central located as possible to the US with easy access via airlines because most all fly there. Plenty if stuff to do on down time as well

What a lovely and generous offer, troopscott.
I have no doubt if my dog and I qualify for a major event my training group will see to it we get there.
This is what a REAL, cohesive club does.
