Speaking of x-raying elbows-

does anyone have any pictures they can load? as we see a lot of hip questions but never elbows.

if at all possible both good and bad elbows and description as to why the rating was received on both.

So there can be some more education in this thread as well.

Please. Thx

steve 1,
question1
if i want to see proof of x-rays and i don't get a copy of the pics than i don't buy the dog/puppies both parents ofcourse making a copy of digital x-rays only takes 5minutes and disc's are not expensive
question2 regarding the ipo part
before i deside to get a pup i make sure i have seen trainnings and competitions of both parents, if the female hapens to be a broodstock bitch that doesn't train i would never take a pup unless the combination is a direct linebreeding on a dog that i do/did know in person

Kyto
Then in that case you would buy very few Puppies, Because not me or anyone else will enter there dog in a IPO competition just for you to pass your judgement on there quality of work. You SHOULD know that even the very best Dogs in Germany and Belgium compete only a few times a year, I.e Trial leading up to the Selection Trials and the ones with the WUSV in mind; No one will change that just for you or the King and Queen in Belgium or the UK. Anyway the Hips and Elbows of my dog are on another thread your comments are welcomed if you wish but whatever is said nothing can change what is? Me, i like to be straight forewards  and up front so that is why i put Gina,s Joints on here so fire away, This is my last post on this thread

These x rays are recent.  4.5 year old male, normal elbows, came back excellent with hips

Some excellent info on this thread, however, it might be better suited if someone
started a thread of 'what elbows look like-good and bad' so this info doesn't get
lost in this thread. I'd kind of like this thread to be more focused on helping people
figure out how to sort through the facts and those that just want to try to baffle others
with bullsh*t when it comes to breeding requirements, and what would raise red flags.Wink Smile

I have put Hips and Elbows and Spine on another thread, simply as you say they get lost in a big thread, a few viewers have looked but no takers of comments to date

I don't understand why breeders advertise on here OFA scores but you go to the website and you see its says pending OFA or OFA under construction etc...AND they have bred the dog several times.....Some breeders even have PennHip done but it was done before they were even a year old and me as a buyer that means nothing to me. We need to better the breed not make a buck folks..

by workingdogz on 18 July 2013 - 18:07

Steve, can you copy/paste that thread here for others to see?

GSDL, I see no reason for a dog to be bred without certification. Sure, you will
get the excuses of "I'd rather breed to a super dog with Grade1 elbows/hips over a
mediocre dog with excellent elbows/hips" etc etc. How about you just find another
dog that meets ALL the criteria, it's not like there is a shortage of GSD in this country
or any other for that matter. I do find it somewhat telling that those that will breed dogs
with no certification will conjure up all sorts of excuses as to why they did it, and proclaim
to anyone and everyone that the sire or dam didn't pass OFA because "they were so hard
on their body and OFA doesn't take that into account", yet again, the dog has never left
their owners back yardRoll eyes Although they may make claims otherwise of some far away
land and secret squirrel service work Roll eyes.  What's worse than breeding uncertified dogs?
breeding dogs that you tried to certify and they failed. Just no excuse period, no matter
how claims of grandiose and superior performance in NeverNeverLand.Shades Smile
