You Guys are forgetting one very important thing and this is said with the exception of djc, It is what Male suits the Female, When will most of you Guys realise how important the Female is, SO very important, Secondly another thing not mentioned is how good is the Male at producing YOU never look only at the first Generation , IT is the G.children you look at and onwards; If not do you want the line to stop at Children only. The mark of a good Producer is the line that Dog creates in other words the progeny for generations turn out good sound Dogs that can work at different levels IPO, Police, Sar whatever they do if they are good at it. Firstly the Apple does not fall far from the Tree; But the next generation of Apples is no good if taken off in a windfall. The Line must carry on not just Children.
Oh; and if i wish i have the option of having Frozen Sperm sent to me if i want to have a Litter of Puppies with Gina and Bomber. at least i have that option later on after her work is finished? I will not be replying to this post as i have nothing further to say on the subject but i could not help myself after reading some of the Posts; One final thing someone mentioned Javir vom Talka Marda,
Well my female Gina is a Daughter of Javir, She is also a G.Daughter of Eros. and she will make both those two dogs a proud Daddy and G.Daddy before she retires from work. and there lines will carry on through her in part

steve1, good to see you, and congrats on Gina's successes!

Dead on as to the importance of the female--most of the enduring, successful lines are built on foundation females, not on the males.

No disrespect but Paul, what kind of sleeve were you using?

"Dead on as to the importance of the female--most of the enduring, successful lines are built on foundation females, not on the males."

largely an empty statement falling upon deaf ears to the vast majority of people buying or marketing puppies, what is the ratio of threads here or anywhere dedicated to dissecting and critiquing "super studs" versus any mention at all about the dam or the mother-line.

i see it like a fox hunt (more obvious in the US), some dog gets high points at conformation or working title and the greeders all go charging in that direction, next year a new dog does well so the same breeders go charging in that direction 180 degrees to the first (n'th) - whole lot of frantic scrambling and changes of direction to get every accomplished stud's name in yr lines as possible, works well from a marketing perspective. i mean how many puppy buyers know more about a stud than what breeders posing as neutral intrenet contributers say about them or what they see in a perfectly staged and highly edited 2 minute youtube clip?

just asking

Never over-estimate the power of the stud and never under-estimate the power of the dam:-)

I don't know.  I seem to recall more than a few threads that veered off stressing female emphasis.  But the OP wasn't asking about dams, perhaps has one in mind he wants to breed.  I mean, if you want to change to topic of the thread, then take the challenge of offering some useful suggestions for the best producing "pair", if you have any in mind.  Theories only go so far, so what examples do we have of "best paired producers in the U.S."  And also, add best "for what" purpose.  I think it will be a short list, because everyone's generally center-minded about imports, so not a lot of anything produced here can offer much credibility to it's parentage.

I used my Schweikert hard sleeve. I am not easily impressed by anyones dog. Just ask many of the people I met on this forum that I tested their dog and did not buy it.

or a thread on repeat matings, how consistent are they and why so few, i expect that maybe people don't know how good the combo was until the dam or stud moved on?? on average i don't see that many repeat matings and even fewer that produced such high quality as the first - is not a repeat mating akin to cloning??, same genotype? apologies if this is ill-informed view.
