Damn, that is one good looking young bitch. Keep on doing exactly what you're doing, Hallix---it's clearly working well.  Thumbs Up

Pretty girl! Looks like she was having fun.  Also couldnt help but notice your training site is lovely...the kind of place to go for a picnic.

I don't mean I think she's so skinny she's liable to blow over in a stiff breeze or drop dead if she sneezed or that she doesn't look nice as-is; I just ASSume UKC conformation would prefer a bit more meat, and it would show her structure off much better if her pelvic/hip bones weren't protruding. She's built lean, but she's not too light on bone (sure wasn't as a pup anyway) and a few more pounds always shows that off better, especially in the head/neck and chest area IMO. It makes for smoother lines. You could keep her plenty light enough, still feel her ribs easily and see the last two, likely, if you put just enough on her to make her rear end look smoother and covered her hips. It would fill out her face a bit, too, I bet and make her look less young and awkward. I really do think that she should be able to do quite nicely in the show arena if she just weighed a little more. She's leggy, but being both leggy AND skinny gives her that supermodel look and while it's gorgeous to see in motion, as you've shown, it doesn't typically win in the show ring, based on my observations.

I firmly believe in keeping pups skinny; heck, I kept Caleb reeeaaally skinny most of his life, he was so big/heavy, and under the impression that he was a Malinios, but he sure "looked" better about 10lbs heavier than my idea of his "ideal."  She really is a pretty girl and the structure has been just what I hoped for in those pups. Look how well Dolce fared...I don't see why Rory shouldn't do as well or nearly as well. She was just as nice as a pup. Overall smaller, but just as nice proportionally and temperamentally. Had she not been earmarked for you early on, I may have kept her for myself. She was so sweet. She was the original "Dolce."  But, I knew you'd do well with her and would be breeding her if all worked out, so off she went. Wink Smile

Please know I'm not trying to be critical of her condition and am only offering an opinion as to what may help her in the show ring.

hallix....if this is just from days ago....how in the world did you get her fur to be so "clean"? mine are currently shedding and looking like homeless wonders even after brushing the chunks especially around rear end are just keep coming out....its a hairy world right now...
she looks great by the way....and great photos...the color on her is amaizing..LOVE 2 picture!!!

Personally, what I have observed in the conformation rings are dogs which are bordering on obese. And some are obese. As for Rory, i'd much rather see hip bones protruding when she's gathered up in a burst of speed, than a roll of fat creating "fat pones" folding over her tail. LOLi know this is not what Jenni is talking about, but it is not uncommon in the world of show dogs.
I think Rory looks in top condition..... for working dog.

Oh, definitely, Joan. But that's what judges are used to, so such a polar opposite might throw them off too much for her to place as well as I think she deserves. They'll likely think she's way too skinny, so a few lbs. won't hurt, just enough to cover the bones a little, so she's not such a shock to them. What I have in mind will in no way impact her health or overall athleticism negatively. So many people are used to seeing such fat dogs that normal dogs look skinny and lean dogs look way too skinny to them. I don't give most people enough credit to look at the TRUE structure of the dog and see past the vast differences in body condition. That is all....people who know what they're looking at can see she's a stunner....not that I'm biased...........LMAO.
