I have been feeding K9 Kraving dog food since it came into existence.  I believe that the "RAW" or "BARF" diet is more beneficial to any dog than what Science diet or most other prescription foods can offer.  This is the only food that I feed.  I also use the supplement Vertex. My dogs have been the healthiest they have ever been since starting the use of these foods/supplements.  I have only needed to take them to the veterinarian for vaccines since starting this regimen.

My dogs are Police K9s/breeding female.  they must be kept in top physical and mental condition and I believe that this regimen has helped with all of their needs in food/supplement categories.  I have 24 years of experience with the German Shepherd breed and cannot say enough good things about the diet and supplement use for my dogs.  What a money saver in the long run.

I have an friend that had a dog tear his crutiate muscle and between him, the maker of K9 Kraving, and my other friend, the maker of Vertex, they came up with a plan for food and supplement nutrition that brought the dog back around and he was able to participate in the sport again.

If you are in need of more glucosamine than what Vertex can offer, you should supplement with Cosequin or Dasaquin depending on the joint needs of your dog.  If you would like to speak with either one of them in reference to helping your dog nutritionally or with just supplemental care, please feel free to contact them.  I am quite sure they can help.

Neither one of them is a veterinarian, but they have many more years of experience in this field than I do.

I feed organic. My Corgi who is arthritic in her spine is on: Gabapentin, Adequan shots, Dasequan, and Rimadyl (I give it to her every 4 days). I will be adding fish oil as well.
I'd never ever feed any vet prescription diet. Yuk!

,my vets don't even prescribe Rimadyl, they do previcox.  previcox lasts 24 hrs in there system and since it is one pill a day. you can cut it in half to adjust dosage.  I also found a substitute for our 15 year old.  we tried a human arthritis medication that is approved for use in dogs.  you can get it generic at target, cosco etc.  we didn't know much difference between that and previcox but he was also on his last year of life and the vet didn't bother running any blood work on him.

taste of wild is a much better nutrition than that science diet and i spent several years studying animal nutrition.  i usually buy dog food from costo the kirkland brand.  their ingredients list is usually meat, peas, carrots, etc.   it is better nutritionally than a lot of the dog food that you buy.  they have some added with glucasamine added along with a natural brand.   pet stores don't like it when i come in and look at things because they want to steer me to the most expensive food and i am going along flipping all the bags over looking at all the labels.

I would try a holistic vet who can do acupuncture or different things like that.   they have collagen injections that they can do to repair things.  my friend had tore her ligaments in her knees and that is one of the popular treatments.
