No Sitasmom it is not abuse. Abuse would be if they posted a 100 in a short time. If you look at the latest post page it is already balanced back out. Had this NEW member posted more the admins would have possibly stepped in.  We are not going to put limits on the amount of threads/posts a member can make. If we see abuse we will deal with that member one on one. So, SM have no fear we are here to watch the site. If you feel something is abuse please mark it as abuse and not make it a thread because in the end you are really questioning the decisions of the admins, no?

the brokers that flood the classifieds are now limited to 10 ads per month.........so the classifieds should be back in balance soon.

actually this is a BREEDERS forum.........not a breed forum........

Sitasmom,,This is a forum for ALL breeds..

Where does it say that this is a breeders forum only..??

I hate to burst your bubble but this is not a breeders forum. Plenty of non-breeders use these forums. This is a non-breed specific forum for problems that cut across all breeds. Please read my above post.

for Sitasmom..

Pedigree Database (“PDB”) is the world’s leading free source of pedigree information for purebred dogs. In keeping with this status and to promote knowledge of dogbreeds, breeding practices, health, training and other aspects relating to dogs and dog ownership, PDB provides a general dog forum and breed specific forums. The forums are free for all to use; however, the site administration of PDB requires all members to follow the rules as set forth below.

As I stated in my post directly to the person who posted, I do rescue all day since Ive been out of work. Rescue dogs are on my FB, I get emails etc and I like coming here to just read about dogs who already have homes. This person didnt join to learn and share, this person signed up to post and flood the board. Two different things imo.

And lets get real, most of the traffic to this site is for breeders. We are reminded of this when we complain that its the breeders who keep the site going. Maybe this was a one time thing and all will be fine soon. If not then as it was suggested, take rescues off the latest section of the forum.

I am not explaining it correctly and I am sorry.

In my heart, all dogs deserve a chance.  I will pick up and foster any dog, as long as I have room.  Trust me, I would take in every dog in the shelter if possible.

There is a reality check though.  I can't rescue or save them all; no matter how much I want to.  I have to set limits.  My limit is to try to save the ones I know can be saved and that I can place in a home.  If I take in a dog that has little chance of me finding a home for, the dog will be with me forever.  All it will take is for me to do that twice and I will have reached my capacity limit.  Then I have to start turning away dogs.  So I have saved 2, but lost many others for 5, 10, 15 years because I have no room.  Where is the sense in that?

Instead, no matter how much it breaks my heart and no matter how hard I cry when I leave some behind, I rescue the ones I know I can find a home for and save 1 or 2 every 3 to 4 months.  That is 4 dogs I can save every year.

Sometimes, you have to think with your head and not with your heart.

I do agree that it is very easy to ignore the rescue forums and go to the ones you want to read.  Are we not doing a dis-service though to all the rescue dogs that were posted yesterday by not explaining to the poster that there is a better way than to flood the forum?  How many of those posts did you read and seriously consider rescuing?  Did the flood of postings accomplish what was needed?  I seriously doubt that it did.  Instead, it created threads like this.

This website is not a facebook.  It is a PEDIGREE database first and for most.  The majority of all people who read and post on this site are all about their pure bred dogs.  If a single person takes that away by flooding the postings with rescues (yes, what was done yesterday was a flood.  Very different than what Marjorie was doing.), how many people are we turning away?  There are many people on here with a wealth of knowledge.  If they stop posting because the site became too much like facebook, are we really better off?

This is not flooding it was 10 threads in 4 hours. ugh.

These forums are for all peoples and not just breeders.

I guess you guys weren't here when the real flooder flooded the forums with thousands of posts in a matter of minutes. I firmly say this is not flooding.

It is a pedigree database foremost but in almost all rescue situations you really don't know the pedigree so really what is the difference?

by SitasMom on 24 January 2013 - 15:01

who said this is a GSD specific forum? not me!

not long ago, this foum was about breeders, trainers and handlers discussing issues with training, breeding, showing and dog health and nutrtion........about newbees asking questions about their dogs and learning from the wistom of others.

when too many off topic posts were started a section for such posts was created....
the reasoning was that this board was to discuss dog training, showwing health and nutrition......
and other topics shouldn't be shown in the latest posts page......
this was a good idea...

now we have rescues.....
which don't have to do with training showing health or nutrition.......it has to do with irrisponsible people not taking care of their dogs and dumping them..
the latest posts page is/was being flooded..as evidenced by the pic at the beginning of this discussion....

when any user floods the board with 9 or 10 new topics in less than a minute.......it just might be considered abuse......

all I asked for was some balance!

BTW, i have a rescue now (lab/dane mix) and have several others in my life.......many of them are fine animals and wonderful pets.......
