As aaykay said above take the picture with lense level with dog's topline, not from a higher level as it makes the dog look shorter in length and height and does not show proper ratios.

Prager-those dogs are stunning!  Jasmin- I think your girl is lovely, give her time to finish maturing. How tall at withers is she now? Within standard?

by SitasMom on 17 January 2013 - 02:01

The gsd standard is not only for height but also for the ratio of height and length.

Thanks everyone.

@gsdstudent    She actually isn't overweight. That is the last thing I want her to be, especially because the extra weight isn't good on her hips. I have actually been keeping her on a strict diet.

Earlier today I gave stacking another shot, but outdoors.  Her legs look longer and this photo seems to be a lot better. Well, except for the fact that her head sort of blends in with the tree behind her.

I think the dog looks fine, all of them. When i was a kid the neighbor had a shepherd and bassett mix. Looked just like a normal german shepherd until you saw him stand up or run. Because he had tiny little bassett hound legs! Strangest thing i ever did see. Looked ike the dog was running in a ditch.

Jasmin Mata, your latest outdoor picture is better, since you took it from a bit more distance.  You need to kneel or squat  or bend down to take the picture, to enable the picture to be taken at the dog's level.  Give it a shot and see if the legs become "normal" or not.
