Until year before last, I never had a case of Kennel cough.  I got a puppy from Alt-Ostland AKA, Judy Malone.  Never having experienced it before when she told me the puppy had a cold I believed her.  Puppy got worse over night, took him to the vet and he said it was Kennel cough. He said it is carried in the water dropplets in the air, which lands on our clothes.  That is the most common way. Everytime an infected dog sneezes or coughes he releases the virus in the air...

So I would say, wear an outter set of clothing so you don't bring it home, and be sure to spray Lysol on you before you even get in your automobile.  Less chance of carrying back to your house. JMO

Hey Hutchins, I did lysol out my whole car interior.  I won't be going over there for a while now at least, so hopefully my dogs will be free from catching anything.   Max hacked the other day, but it could have been a "hair ball" since Sibes tend to groom themselves often.  He hasn't done it since, and the other dogs haven't done that at all so I assume that's all it was.

Kennel cough is a dry hacking cough which seems to intensify by excitment.  Its a pretty presistant cough.  Poor babies, I feel sorry for them.  Once a dog get KC or exposed to it, it should be isolated for at least 3 mos after. Not Fun. I know it sounds extreme, but better safe than sorry.

Gsdguyo8, you probably are ok if you sprayed really good.  I wouldn;t panic about the coughing you heard. I would pay attention to make sure it doesn't continue or increases.  Keep us posted, I will have you and your fur babies in my thoughts.  Heart

It sounds like you've taken pretty good precautions so hopefully there will be nothing to worry about. When I was working in a vet clinic, we had a few weeks of numerous kennel cough cases come in day after day. I was exposed to all of these sick dogs and my dogs weren't vaccinated for KC at the time. Everyday coming home from work, I'd immediately change all my clothes, take a shower and wear different clothes before greeting my dogs. Never had an issue.
