Hi Dawulf, Nice One.
In the old pedigrees dogs with these markings were very usual.

doggiedad, the shiloh breed founder, Tina Barber was friends with Chuck, and had him give seminars and workshops for the shiloh folk. She also bred her dogs to his lines, but no, the Hobo dogs were purebred GSDs.

The occasional reverse mask pops up in the shilohs as evidence of the Hobo lines.

Just sharing a colour photo to help with some ideas about the dogs. The striking white markings and rich browns have always been so distinguishing to me. It's so rare to see anything like them except in mixed breeds.

Would this be considered a reverse mask?

Sunsilver

Yes, it would.

It's very similar to my girl Tasha, who also had a reverse mask:

There's a lot of gray in her face in this picture, as she was 12 years old. She lived to be 14 1/2. That's her in my sig pic, at just over a year old.

Sun silver, I love those pictures, taken so many years apart.

Thanks! She was a stray, so no idea of her breeding, but she had the true GSD temperament. No one DARED lay a finger on our car when she was in it!

Here's a larger version of the sig pic. It was the weekend of our first wedding anniversary, and of COURSE the dog had to come along!

You might say Tasha and I went gray together... Teeth Smile

So many years, so many memories... [sniff!]  Wondering

(OOPs, didn't realize I'd already posted that picture above!  Red Smile  Aw, heck, it's one of my favourite photos, so I'll just leave it!)
