I'm with Ibrahim, I love all the lines and have never been able to understand why anyone would trash any GSD because of it's pedigree or phenotype.

by Ibrahim on 23 December 2012 - 16:12

Blitzen, we as humans come from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, America,....... we all have our pluses and our negatives, there are geniuses and scientists from all continents, we have athletes from all continents, we have Politicians from all continents, we have beauty queens from all continents and we have corruption and poverty in all continents. GSDs are no different, work is loved by many, show is loved by many, I never saw a GSD fight with another based on type, color or place of birth, maybe we should take note of that, we have a blessing in the versatlility of color and work abilities to choose what best suits each of us, tell you what! we are even not limited to one type, we can own more than one and enjoy what each can offer to us, I'm doing that and love both a LOT.

Ok, I am going to chime in here. My first GSD was a showline dog. He was an awesome dog. Still miss him to this day. He had rock solid temperment and I did SchH and personal protection work with him. He would bite a body suit, hidden sleeve or exposed sleeve just the same FULL and HARD. Yet I could take him anywhere with me and could trust him 100%.

I also had a son of his that passed away in March of this year. Aiko was just like him dad in temperment.

The other dog I had was a WL male. He passed away in July 2009 at 12 years old. Bruno was my first WL dog and got me hooked on them...lol. He was a very good family dog. He had a great temperment as well and was very outgoing with people. I could take him anywhere and knew that I was safe. He would have layed his life down to protect me. I did personal protection work with him and he was a very serious dog when working. He had a nice mix of prey and when needed was very civil and would bite FOR REAL. He was that cuddly loving family member that would except anyone until told otherwise.

This was about a month before he passed away.

The "other side of him"...lol

I love this picture...

Xena is my first female GSD and it is a great joy to work her. She is the best OB and tracking dog I have every had the pleasure of working. I just got her BH on the 16th of this month and will be doing an FH later next year. I am her world and she could care less about anyone else. She is totally neutral to people. Does not want to be touched by them either. She has been the easiest dog I have trained. I show her something once or twice and she has it down. The couple things I could fault her on is her high tail set, and that she is handler soft.

I like this picture of her heeling..

Xena doing the "escape bite"..

Jyl, your post indicates how quickly they pass on from our lives.  Enjoy them to the maximum when they are around.

Aaykay,
Aint that the truth. After I made that post I even mentioned to myself that the only dog still alive in those pictures is Xena. She will be 7 in May 2013. Although no one would ever know it.
