Wow Ibrahim.. I'm quite impressed with your dogs pedigree. Something to be proud of and from looking at it I do not see anyway that he could not help but be that type caliber dog. Of course he was rewarded for his hard work wasn't he? ;)

Red Sable,

Thank you for your kind comments. :)

WOW;  all are beautiful.  What I mean by NATURAL PROTECTION;  the instinct is there from a very young age, otherwise they are people savy;  and always size up the situation before acting or reacting (without training) on my boy;  absolutely love that type of dog.  Uses his brain before reacting;  in a very natural way as my boy was NOT trained for protection but was very instinctual about what was happening around him and watched over me like a mother hawk.  Very very special dog.  Nan

Thanks Red Sable and that is what I mean;  show line/working line/bred for whatever can ALL be natural protectors and I love that about this breed, however, they usually use their brains before reacting, with or without training, at least my boy did on both occasions.

OMG Yes I love my GSDs.  Echo is my Heart dog and even tho she came from a BYB and I have learned hard lessons with her, she will always  have my heart.  She doesn't know the meaning of quit and she will defend me.  And Paul loves his lap dog, Ziggy.  What a great heart this young pup has.  Totally devoted to Paul and protective.  We have to keep an eye on him already.  Sometimes he doesn't like the looks of others and tells them about it.

Orwell is an awesome GSD! Congratulations!

I love my GSDS, Lil' Bit is very good looking, Ansgar is as sweet as could be, and both girls are smart, very intelligent. Beckett is handsome, solid, stable, awesome dog with a lot of smarts.

But none have that special something extra that Kali had. She was so smart it was uncanny, she could look at me & we knew what the other was thinking, we made a great team. And protective....she could size up a situation & act on it, she always did exactly the right thing at the right time. She never had to bite anyone, but she would put herself between her people & any threat that came along, & she made sure she was seen. 1 look at her well displayed pearly whites changed quite a few minds, & she would stand up to be at your face level to make sure you got the best view! No one ever pushed her beyond that...! LOL, they'd have been foolish to, because she was as quick as a snake! Oh, my girl, the mold was broken after you were made....I'll miss you forever....

Dont post here very often, but in a thread like this, can't help myself.

I got my little pedigree-less mutt GSD when I knew very much less than I do now. I would never do something so stupidly risky again, but...
I now have a dog I would die for in a heartbeat.

He structurally solid as a rock, he can climb 6 foot walls for a laugh, he has a wonderful trot, where it almost just looks like he is floating above the ground, he can be unbelievably powerful in a burst when he needs it and because we have dont ons of swimming hell do that for hours also.

I had never really trained a dog before, but he has a BH, and we will do IPO 1 before the end of the year. But this is a game for him, a laugh on Saturday mornings. Long before IPO we started with PP training, and it was like watching a fish swim for the first time. He loves to fight and he just oozes confidence and his sparkling dominance. And when waiting his turn on the sleeve, he has a nap, no whining or barking, just calm and in control. The harness comes on, and he turns on, no need waste all that energy in anticipation.

I guess he will always be my first and will probably always be the dog I remember most fondly.

When after training, walking, playing whatever we have been doing (he comes everywhere with me, literally everywhere except work...) we get home he just turns into a soft toy with me, big black cuddly teddy bear.

He is indifferent to strangers, unless threatened, he ignore all dogs that are not dominant males in his face (yes we sorted out the dominance with other dog issues) and a simple 'Leave' gets him away from anything that may be interesting him and he is very gentle and patient with children.

At 18 months old, I couldn't be happier with my little buddy, or more proud. Sadly he will never be allowed a full registration and to the GSD clubs he will always be an outsider that will not be allowed to breed. The plan is to win lots of stuff and see if they change their minds.
