Pardon my ignorance......please describe what these titles mean. I am new to all the titles and honors.

Just to clarify HOT does stand for Handler Owned and Trained.

(correct me if I'm wrong)... The technical definition would be a dog who did NOT have any titles at the time of purchase/ownership.  It is very common for dogs to be imported or otherwise purchased with foundation training (grip work), so it does not reference to the training in the entirity.

Andy was a Police dog prior to me owning him.  However it is my understanding he is officially considered HOT because I attained all his titles.
I had probably more work to do FIXING his tracking, Obedience and control in bitework for the sport of SchH than if I raised him for the sport myslef so I do consider him HOT.

Ema was purchased with foundation training but no where near ready to title.

While I don't want to take credit for 100% of their training...they were not purchased mostly trained or titled either.  Sorry for the confusion.

Conspicuous...There used to be some minor differences but they really had become identical.

fawndallas...

I will explain the title you probably are most unfamiliar with in detail....PSA1 (Protection Sports Association www.psak9.org)

Obedience and protection phases...

obedience has a suited decoy sitting in a chair on the field and many distractions (balls tugs sleeves) scattered all over the field.  at one point in OB routine the dog is downed infront of the decoy and two things are tossed in front of and behind the dog...dog must remain down.

Protection: there are 3 known scenarios and one hidden scenario (chosen from a pool of 5 possible scenarios).  Carjack with hidden sleeve and gunfire....the rest of the scenarios are on a suit: handler attack from hiding, Courage test...then the hidden scenario we had was friendly greeting from a suited decoy...shook his hand, dog had to remain neutral...then another decoy 'attacked' us and the dog had to defend.

Andys other titles:

SchH3 - Schutzhund 3

CDX- Intermediate AKC OBedience title

RN- Rally Novice (obeidence)

TC- GSDCA temperament test

TDI- Therapy dog certification

CGC- Canine Good Citizen

Congratulations! I am always so very, very impressed at dogs with ANY sort of PSA title. I am working my pup towards his PDC in September of this year. It really is a difficult sport, and your achievements are nothing less of awesome.

GSDfan,
You are luck to have had two excellent dogs.......yes!
But many excellent dogs have not so great handlers - - -
Without time in training and your skills she may have ended up a washout....

Excellent job both of you...congradulations.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes it even more amazing, I am happy now that I will know what it means when I see it, it is perhaps the most important designation of all....

Congratulations again! Be proud - be very proud.
