Safe Guard for goats comes in liquid and is easier to dose for smaller dogs/puppies than the tube size for horses.

I would also treat for cocci, since it doesn't always show up in exam and is pretty common in pups after rehome, some say due to stress.

With that said, I'm not a vet, but have had quite a bit of experience with both Giardia and cocci.

febendazole - is the active ingredient it Safe-Guard for goats, it is in liquid form and is very easy to dose, just get a syringe without the needle draw the amount you need and squirt it into their little mouths. not much of a flavor so they really don't mind. it can also be mixed into a little bit of canned food or raw meat.

a good note, its soothing to the intestinal tract so they tend to start feeling better quickly. and after 5 or 6 days your puppy is wormed of everything including tapeworms too. febendazole is said to be one of the safer drugs out there.

Fenbendazole (50 mg/kg/day) effectively removes Giardia cysts from the feces of dogs; no side effects are reported, and it is safe for pregnant and lactating animals.

Horse, cattle and goat wormers come in a 10% solution.

weight of animal / 2.2 * 50 = dose in mg...

12 lb puppy / 2.2 = 2.5
2.5 x 125 mg dose = 12.5 ml

fawndallas - yes isolation and disinfection is very important. Giardia is killed with a 10% solution of bleach and water which is allowed to soak for 10 minutes.

I will try the safe guard for 6 days and yogurt would be a good pro biotic correct as long as the live cultures are in it!!

Can Safe-Guard for goats also be used for puppy wormings (at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks)?

SITASMOM   thats what the breeders have been telling us very healthy pups with no issues of worms etc.
My boss also has a suggestion for coccidia to prevent the pups from having issues. It all starts with the mom .

Same here, goat dewormer for giardia. I have also had three pups develop coccidia and I used Corid for that. Some people like Corid and some don't. I had success with it.
