Red Sable

by Red Sable on 11 February 2012 - 23:02

Sorry, these are lightened too much, but I'm not seeing much of a difference in shape face, of course Candi here has a longer snout, as she is 5 weeks older.

I still say LSC , I'm not going to bet any money on it though!

RS:  Look at the long slender snout..yes,,key , and then broader up the head and it is PIE  shaped

in other words not broad   big headed big snout.....the long slender snout is the usual key ...

And the look in the eyes is very different..I guess when you have seen many coats and had to determine them you get use to that different look

Another trainer here in Tyler agreed by lookin at the pics a few minutes ago..

I'm glad the OP is going to come back when it is determined and put us out of our misery.  I'll send you a Lindor chocolate if you are right

RS:  Oh boy...

Also look at the STOP on the LC...faces...usually you find none...very little..
but also when you see poorly bred shepherds they have no stop either...lol

When I raised American Parti colored cocker spaniels....the delight was to groom that baby puppy and dig into the stop and clean it out so you find a big huge dip and oh how that division yells    YAHOOOO.

A lot of gsd bred from just lines not too structurally sound, have long faces but no hair tuffs out of ears, under ears and so that is not an issue in determining coat satus..

I will have a picture in a few days of a Liver LC , not one of  mine but the trainer here in Tyler and he says that is the most gorgeous dog he has seen in years, aside from  Debbys..

Do you think Candi has no stop?  I've been looking (as I  loooove a good stop) but many WL's have poor stops.  This other pic is a dog I saw on here that caught my eye, nice looking fellow, but is his stop any steeper than Candi's?

True many wl  do have very little stops and they do not hold a VA or V rating in show either..

LOL

Good postings..

I miss my puppies...sighhhhh

Abby is in heat and I am hiding her in the refrigerator for two weeks..

Lol

I'm surprised about the V or VA rating over a stop, I'll have to check that out!

Ya, I was being goofy, as being V or VA doesn't mean squat to me actually.  I've seen many dogs that are VA that you couldn't pay me to take home.
Also, I have seen  V dogs with not much of a stop, which is fine with the standard as far as I can see.

Seen from the front the forehead is only moderately arched, and the skull slopes into the long, wedge-shaped muzzle without abrupt stop.  - taken from the American kennel club standard.

The SV standard also says :  with a slanting but not too sharply-defined stop

I'd consider Candi, a LSC having a slanting but not too sharply defined stop

We'll see how this pup turns out, she sure is cute regardless. :)

YR, remember this puppy?

I posted him at about 12 weeks? 10 weeks? It was said that maybe he was just in a fuzzy stage as a lot of them go through that look before getting their adult coats. No doubt about it; he's a LSC. They can be tricky sometimes!
