FWIW here are some of my personal observations of what I saw at the NASS...Other people's perceptions and experiences might have been different, I am only speaking to mine...

Firstly, the accommodations at the host hotel were very nice. Our room was clean and comfortable and the hotel as a whole was very nice....

The park where the NASS was located was probably one of the most beautiful parks I have seen. VA was a beautiful state...

The first thing that got my attention arriving on the grounds was the very impressive dog trailers. Each kennel to the best of my knowledge had their own trailer with their kennel logo...I might add there were some very nice trucks pulling those trailers too...I am a truck kinda gal..lol...

As I got on the grounds I thought I was in heaven among all those beautiful GSD's...   It was very nice to see the close comradery between the team members in the groups. I was very jealous and envied the fun they were having preparing their dogs and showing together...:)  Team Huerta Hoff and Mittelwest stood out most in this regard...

About the dogs,,,So many nice dogs I didn't know where to look first..Males were definitely masculine and females were definitely feminine....After looking them over for a few days, I saw some striking consistency with a few lines/kennels...

I could almost always tell when a dog was a Wilhendorf dog. Males and females had very beautiful heads. males were masculine, but had a softer masculine appearance (pretty boys)...Also, very nice pigment and color with a soft looking coat...

Huerta Hof had nice heads and good structure

dei Percision had very handsome males with nice color!!

Haus Juris has nice color and good looking dogs...

Mittelwest has a distinctness about their dogs too..Color was some of the nicest reds IMO..very nice looking dogs in general...However, the thing that stood out to me most about this group was that the males especially seemed a little more serious over all. For lack of a better word the males had a "mocho" look about them lol...It seemed to me that the bite work from the males in this group was overall better..What I mean is that the Mittelwest dogs seemed enthusiastic about the bite work more then other dogs...;)  JM uneducated O...;)

I chose these groups because these stood out to me consistently over the course of time...There were many individual dogs that stood out as well, but these 5 groups consistently IMO shared those characteristics....

My favorite males in catalog order...VA11 Kimbo vom Globalhaus, VA3 Xppo dei Percision, VA4 Zambo vom Reidschlurgi, Rocco vom Mittelwest, Waiko Schaumbergerland, Griff v TeMar.

Females, VA1 Jessica vom Bierstadter Hof, Vista vom Mittelwest, VA5 Honey vom Finkenschlag, VA2 Jamaica von Oasis, VA4 Celine von Pallas Athene....

FWIW...: )

Very nice sportsmanship from all competitors !!!!

And some great dancers too LoL,,,,!!!! espeacilly amoung the judges  ;)

Super Nice and beautiful folks...: )

Ahha, I did have a great time!!!

Did I mention the junior handlers because they where great. It was so nice to see young people being raised in the sport!!!...: ) They handled those dogs like professionals..

Also, I am giving up nursing and becoming a handler if I could only have the nice German accent too..;)  LoL..

Deanna,

Thanks so much for the kind words and the video, it wasn't our best stand exam but oh well, a little too much calling from mom as you could hear LOL!! You don't have any video of the 12-18 female class do you? By the way, your take and description on the show is great, you really are helping people to feel like they were there, great job on the pictures and video, the hours you've put in are amazing :)

Barbie, I was all about those males and really neglected pics and videos of the females. In hind sight I really regret not getting more videos of the females. I needed like two more pairs of hands lol...I have some picture groups that I will post ASAP of the different age groups, but thats it on the females...BTW your ad in the NASS booklet is very nice!!!...You are a class act Ms. Barbie...: )

Sorry Deanna to "hi-jack" your wonderful thread for a moment.....but I feel the need to "clarify" something that I earlier posted.  It seems that it can be misinterpreted incorrectly and that would not be my honest intention.
*When "defending" Ivan's V-3 position (being mentioned in MARKOPOLOS) comments......I proceeded to give a fast glimpse into Ivan's past show placings.
I mentioned a show a couple of weeks back in which he was "briefly" placed in front of a VA dog.......let me clarify this.....Ivan started in 2nd place, behind the VA dog.
He was briefly placed in 1st place for a couple of laps, and then placed back into 2nd place behind the VA dog.  When I stated "when it was mentioned as such"....was in reference to "our" group's excitement......not in reference to the Judge.
My comment was in defense of Ivan's quality and the great job his family has done in showing him....not against any dog he has shown with or against.
*They are after all...only shows for Christ's sake.*

I would never intentionally belittle any dog's VA placement.....it is a hard spot to place in, and it takes much blood, sweat & tears.....just as I would not want someone to belittle my dog's placement.
I wanted to make sure that I openly posted this....
Thank you,
Robin
