Looks like a dog bite or small caliber  bullet would from BB air rifle. Neighbors?  I would put Neosporin antibiotic ointment on it ever day 2 x . Rub it in really good so if he licks it it will be already absorbed. Do it  for 6-7 days and go to vet after that if it would not get better.  Also go to vet if it is getting progressively worse even so you putting Neosporin on it. Feel for BB.

Now that just puts me in a foul mood to think the dog may have been hit with a bb gun!

It looks like a puncture wound or a syst or could be a bb wound from air gun take the dog to the vet asap but you must keep the wound clean some warm clean water a pinch of salt and bath the wound then put on some antibiotic creem on 3timesor so per day but please take the dog to vet as this is the only one who can tell what it is for sure

It is very round.  Have you seen a vet?

It looks like you have been taking care of it-what have you been using?  It looks clean and flat.

I don't have experience with BB shot wounds.  Can you feel if there is a shot pellet under the skin?

I do have a lot of experience with puncture wounds that abcess (on both cats and dogs).  It does look like it could be a drained abcess.   A puncture wound will swell up and then burst and the abcess fluid will drain out.  Often, the resulting wound will be round.   I have used hydrogen peroxide (human, retail strength) to clean it and a poultice of Golden Seal herb to pack it and draw out any remaining infection.  Some people use betonite clay over the godenseal and water paste to keep it drawing out.  You can cover it with gauze.

I also use neosporin or other antibiotic cream later.

Keep us posted.
