Sorry for your loss, dogs just get right into your heart! and its so hard when you lose them , but think of all the good times you had together, so so sorry

OMG! How heartbreaking. So very sorry for your loss. Please do let us know how the postmortem turns out. I do pray that no one was so sick as to bring this great dog down out of jealousy or hate or whatever motive. My heart goes out to you. RIP Gus.
