Not really... as it's in the bones, not due to lack of condition primarily.  It doesn't do her any harm.  Just looks funky to peole watching.

Rik, Windwalker & Alpahpup - I was under the impression that a GSD will always have an offset between the rear & front assemblies when gaiting, albeit a very very slight one, as this is the way it avoids the rear feet hitting the front feet.

If you look at the classic youtube film of a GSD gaiting (www.youtube.com/watch ) you can clearly see that the dogs rear right foot moves to the inside of the front right & the rear left moves to the outside of the front left. I understood this was achieved, and permitted within the conformation structure, by having the v.slight offset.

During miles of walking the hound I've also noticed such a slight offset when trotting (at a fast pace) that can change from v.slightly left to v.slightly right in an instance whilst still maintaining a straight line. Agreed, noticeable 'crabbing' does indicate some form of structural imbalance.

Thoughts?

hi Shultz Anna,

Kioanes got it right ,Its called crabbing,

I believe this has got to do , with the proportion of the dog. You mentioned thjat your dog is one year old . Lets hope it grows longer in body. Then your problem may be solved.

there is no PERFECT dog nor person .... many people in life have one leg a bit  longer than the other or an arm / hand. same with innate behavoiral traits .. no dog or person has it ALL> however there should be symetry in form . there is the GSD standard .. inch ti ninch in height and width , proportions , angulations.... again this isTHE PERFECT representation . SO .... do you see bones / muscles / tendons represented by the former ... NOT SYMETRICAL ?  .. and then again .. let's think ... as I statyed before WHY do you think we view the dog in motion , coming and going ? BTW .... IMO   RE: the standard .. there is no interpretation about it . THE STANDARD  .. is the STANDARD in black in white verse.
