DDRCzechFan - Yeah the fiberglass one's are the best to use as the rope is a thick braid and the fiberglass shaft wont break and can handle a 90 lb GSD pulling on the rag at the end.  The size is just right to have the dog chase in a circle and not stress your arm out.

From seeing what is already made and sold online, that stuff doesn't look like it will last.

Good luck!

So I have no experience with the fiberglass. But I make my own.... cheap also, I take the bully stick, yes the bully stick and tie a nice high quality rope to it and a leather tug.

This is how you make the "WeenerDick" toy
enjoy! LOL

Mine has survived tons of puppies, the problem is if you leave it out they might try to eat the handle.
I know the OP wants to buy one, this is only an idea for others who don't want to buy one.

LOL@ Weenerdick toy!

Not as if those 3 ft. pizzles are cheap, at least not back here on the East coast, but at least they won't end up in a landfill somewhere. Ace you crack me up too, especially the Anthony Bordaine quote, I still can't stop smirking about that one.... from the other thread.

Well, I'm not TOTALLY against building my own again, I just wanted a more efficent way to do it, and it appears I've been given plenty of ideas.

Fiberglass, being light, I would assume, would be so much easier to weild than that heavy a$$ shovel handle one I had built, but man, that thing was no joke, the handle was from a shovel, the rope was either paracord or some sort of tow line (not vividly remembering at the moment, this was over 5 years ago) and the end, of course, was either rags or leather, depending on which dog I was working at the time. I liquid nail glued string on the end of the handle, and then taped it, it made a comfortable grip. Very effective, worked many, many dogs and puppies with it, and never had the rope fray or the wood show any sign of damage, only thing I consistently replaced was the rag lures.

Thanks for the great ideas everyone, assuming I make, instead of buy one, I'll be sure to post a picture or two ;)

I use a lunge whip from tractor supply store.  You can attach whatever rag, tug, or toy you want to.  It's strong yet flexible perfect length.
