When I walked by his kennel and seen him I said...he's perfect! I went back outside to get my ball on a rope and he went crazy over it.

What a beautiful boy......Happy Birthday :)
Hard to tell... he's so black his features kind of blend in.......those darn black dogs are so hard to photograph..LOL:)
How about a Border Collie cross. We have one on our SAR team and your boy's disposition sounds a lot like his.
Good Luck with him.

When I see a black dog, I always think Belgian Shepherd (groenendael)
as I use to own one
Best to you & your pup (1yr, fun age!!hehe)

Nice job in rescuing him!
He looks border collie cross to me (maybe with blk lab)
Border collies are ball crazy and hyper like that.

Maybe GSD/Collie; there is a "breeder" in my area that crosses the two breeds and the resulting puppies sometimes look alot like your new dog, floppy ears includeed. He also "smiles" like my old Border Collie did, so maybe that breed or an Australian Shepherd is in his ancestory. My current Aussie bounces off my other dogs like you said Charlie does/did, plus she has the same droopy ears and hyper personality, but she will also lie down and be very peaceful in the house. Anyway, kudos to you for saving his life.
