Thanks for the messages from everyone concerned about CH. Varus. He is improving, but not yet out of the woods. Bladder stones blocked his penis, ruptured his bladder, and caused some kidney damage. So with peritonitis, and other complications he was very close to death. Having spent since Monday at a Veterinary Hospital having tests and treatment around the clock, I have just been told he will be staying in the Hospital for at least another 2 days. He is 7 years of age, and our house dog, and those that know him will know how human he is, he wakes me most mornings, frequently climbing in bed with me, or at the least placing his head on my pillow for some considerable time. His other antics are hilarious and most enjoyable. A true friend, and we are determined to get him through all of this. The Vet treating him is fantastic, from Germany, and is very thorough. We will let you know when we have him home.

Sorry to hear Varus has been so ill, hope he is on the mend really quickly, flipping dogs, they worry the life out of us.
Also to reiterate all that has been said before, it was a super show, great atmosphere and a thoroughly enjoyable day, hopefully, some, if not all of the ideas will be incorporated into some of the later shows this year, if not next, it was really nice to see so many people having fun.............

Hi David,
First hope Varus gets well soon.
Second I fully agree with your suggestion regarding a National Consultative Forum through the GSD League of Great Britain.
They have proved through the work they do to improve the breed and how they are bringing all the aliments of the GSD breed within there clubs that they are 'FORWARD THINKING'
Also through just ONE show how they are willing to attempt new ideas to improve show entries and promote interest for the general public to attend shows for a 'DAY OUT'.

CH. Varus has complications which require him being referred to Bristol University School of Veterinary Science for specialist investigation and possible complex surgery. We are facilitating the best opportunities for him to fully recover, and all we can do is hope.
Our thanks for all communications from friends and all those concerned, for their best wishes. We know that many of you will fully understand what we are going through at this time. From the high of last week-ends success with CH. Ice & Rakell to the current low of CH. Varus fighting for his life.

I hope no one is offended by us using this thread to update people on Varus, if so please tell me and we will stop.

His test results today at Bristol University were mixed, some positive and some confusing. So he is being kept overnight and they will continue with him tomorrow, when they will have some results from some other tests taken today. Many specialists have been brainstorming the confusing results of some tests, particularly in respect of the fluid in his abdomen which is causing concern. Hopefully we will have something positive tomorrow. Again thanks for your messages, and we are sorry if we cannot speak more than a few seconds on the phone, its simply because we are anxiously waiting for calls from the Vets that are dealing with Varus.
David & Rhoda
