Kathy P: "I wish this post could get back to the original topic and I could actually see names of Studs that should legitimately be recommended for breeding to improve the breed in the future." Kathy P - is there a reason you have for not believing Eagle should "legitimately be recommended for breeding"? Because, even if you don't personally like sable working-line dogs for your program, some might - he has earned his V in conformation at a Regional Conformation show, under SV Koermeister Seifert. He is KKl-1 for life. Is that legitimate enough for you? He has been SG at two Seiger Shows. Good enough for me - but not for you? And all for a dog who has 0 conformation lines, is sable, very working-type and 8 years old with a dropped ear (due to hematoma injury caused by accidental whip hit and resulting surgury). He has proven himself in the work (many many times) and in conformation, soundness, health, and progeny. So what is your problem with him, especially since you have not met him in person? ps Lee's black dog (Kougar vom Eichenluft) IS extremely nice - did you know I bred him? He is Eagle's nephew. LOL molly

Well Chuck, I did train several of my dogs and I have conditioned 3 dogs to ADs in the past year in between knee surgery. I also (with the help of my husband because of my knee, did the Kore on two dogs at working dog clubs PA & NC last year). I have done the "imprint" training on several of my dogs and then sent them to be finished mostly because of the limited resources in this area for "good" training and because I was fortunate to meet an awesome trainer. And although I do get "senior" discounts at restaurants and retail stores, I have yet to find any offered in Schutzhund. And Chuck, I find it amazing that you consider your dog HOT. If I recall he was already "trained" when you bought him and began training in CT. You merely polished it up and had the book signed. Molly I have met you and your dog. Of course you were very rude and probably don't remember (PA & CT). I was also there when Endy v. Svenshome took the 1998 NA , watched (and met)Wayne Simanovich with Pascha at several competitions, Debbie Zappia with Boss, the awesome team of Steve Miller and Amigo, Cathy Jobe and the phonominal Fratz, the ever gracious Vollrath family. I did training with Ralph Scalia, T. Floyd, Hank DeBoer and Joanne Plumb. All very positive and addicting experiences in the "sport". A time when the sport was thriving and our "team" were National Heroes. But it was people like you, Chuck and Molly, that convinced me to remain only a spectator. Your arrogance and rudeness do nothing for the future of Schutzhund. Molly, your dog was second in Universal Sieger to a dog that placed higher. Instead of whining and attacking the credibility of the victor, go train harder! I apoligize to the other members of the board. I was just fed up with a few that seem to forever whine about others that placed higher than them and attack and threaten people who don't agree with them. I can only hope that you all enjoy your dogs as much as I do. With all the knowledge about the breed, the sport and health of the GSD, it would be nice to see this board become a positive resource.

Kathy you just can not get the facts straight, in another thread I made it clear my current male was trained as a K9, he did not have a score book or any titles when I purchased him, some things were OK, other routines had to be taught from the beginning. And I made this clear on a different thread, if you do not believe me, I can fax you a copy of his Slovak Export pedigree. A good dog can do both Sport and K9 work. The USA allowed my dog to be entered in the HOT championship because the dog is qualified as HOT. I trained and titled my dog. Have you ever put a SchH title on a dog yourself, riding a bike in an AD does not count. Handling a dog in a breed survey does not count. Doing the imprinting on a dog does not count, either you handled a dog successfully to a SchH title or you did not. So what is the answer??? Have you ever titled a dog? There are several very good helper decoys in your area, the New England region has very good clubs and trainers to work with, and so not having someone to work with is your choice. Once again, that is not my concern. And age does not count, I’m over 50 and have pins in my hip, shoulder and foot and an injury to my right eye that requires I wear glasses or a single contact lenses. There is an incredible gentleman who continues to train and handle his dog in trials with a hip replacement and is in his 70s. If you attended your own regional in 2005 you could have seen this person out there showing us young folks that age and injuries do not matter I like this quote from your post “convinced me to remain only a spectator.” That is all you have been, you were there when other people trialed their dogs. You can say you were here or there and drop names, but you were never on the field with “your” dog. No one has attacked your dogs, your breeding program, just your rude comments. I took exception to your gratuitous comment about Eagle v Eichenluft. And I was not the only one. You have yet to give any technical comments that I would expect from a breeder who is active in the conformation ring. have to run, Its time to work Dajk on his FH track :)

Kathy, since I have no idea who you are, don't remember meeting you, have never heard your name except on this list, don't know your dogs and don't know what you look like, I also don't know how I could have been "rude" to you. If I met you and was rude, then I apologize and would do so in person, if you introduce yourself to me since I have no idea who you are. In CT perhaps you felt I was "rude" when I was hopping up and down trying to keep my feet from freezing off my legs, standing in the rain all day volunteering at the SS checking tattooes. My main priority was checking tattooes, keeping from freezing, and showing my dog as a requirement for Universal Seiger. I'm certain if I had known you were trying to say hello to me, I would have smiled and said "hello" back. It is never my intention to be rude to people I don't know. (or of course to people I do know). Eagle certainly never did anything to deserve your snide comments about him - As for last years' Universal Seiger - yes indeedy Eagle did come in 2nd. I never disputed that. This year we are trying again, because he's a dog that is good enough in conformation and working to do it. molly

Kathy wrote: "And Chuck, I find it amazing that you consider your dog HOT." at the time Chuck titled his dog and competed him in the HOT Nationals (doing very well by the way with 97 points in protection), his dog was considered HOT according to the USA rules of HOT participation. He put all Schh titles including BH on his own dog. Now he is still considered HOT because he is grandfathered in under the current rules that include an age limit. molly

Kathy, I don't have any need to contact you privately; anything I wish to say on this subject I'll say openly. Since I don't believe I've met you, I certainly don't have anything against you personally...I just don't see any justification for making a snide, insinuating and cryptic comment about someone's dog when he's mentioned as a possible breeding partner for a third party's female. If you don't like the owner, fine--though if you're going to damn every dog because you feel their owner was 'rude' to you at some event or other, you'll have a hard time finding Nationals-level breeding partners to recommend--but the dog's credentials are his own, and as such are what he should be judged upon. No one suggested that Eagle was the ONLY stud dog out there, or the ONLY one that should be considered (and what's amusing is that the person who initially asked the question isn't even located in the US, so it's highly unlikely they'd breed their bitch to ANY of the dogs mentioned in this thread, save for those in Europe!). There's a lot of good stud dogs out there, some more titled and some less so. It's which dog is the best match for a particular bitch that matters, and must be considered. If you feel some pressing need to contact me privately, fine--it's hexebh@yahoo.com. If you just want to bitch about how rude Eagle's owner was to you, though, save your typing time. I don't much care if she was or she wasn't. We can all be rude to others at times, and I'm sure you've done so yourself over the course of your lifetime.

I can’t understand why people wouldn’t want sables in their breeding program… I just adore them to much! I’m willing to give up my black and red to go with them! They’re neat! :D
