Saoa, The Xrays was NOT inflammatory torwards the kennel that Jan bought his dog from. As far as I can see it, Jan has every right to post in anything that belongs to him or his dog. If you want people to fallow the rules... why dont you be an example? Just fallow what Blitzen just posted and we'll all be fine and happy :)

Jantie, I wanted to email you privately but could not do so. I did some research a few years back on pictures and the internet. I take pictures of the annual BSZS and post them on my personal internet site to share. I did not want to get in trouble doing so, I did some research and found out that, legally, "The person that actually takes the picture is the owner of that picture". Technically, if I borrow your camera and take a picture, I own the picture that was captured at the moment the shutter did it's thing. Buying pictures(I guess X-rays fall in that catagory......maybe not, who knows) does not necessarily make one the "owner" when posting to the web. Just offering a different perspective. Not trying to "defend" anyone here, just hoping to edify. Hope all works out with you and your dog. Hate to see anyone going through this. Godspeed! Stephen

I think we should assume that these rules only apply to the message board and not to advertising or users comments since both of these areas are dominanted by inflammatory statements about dogs and people. Why the double standard and note who is one of the biggest offenders in the users comments area. Duh.....

I am just hopping in especially for you Stephen. As always I appreciate your comment very much and must answer it, before going to one of the last walks with Indy. He will be put to sleep very soon now. Thank you very much for the moral support, I appreciate that. Now regarding the picture, you have an interesting point there. But guess what, the university taking the pictures has given me the authorisation to use it for any purpose I might have. In fact, they are using my statistics (free of charge of course) in their lectures also. Could get that in writing in a matter of seconds, so I'm not worried about that. Good point though. I might want to trigger the shutter myself at the clinic when Indiana is checked once more for final documentation of his statusses (everything: hips, elbows, back, etc.) Concerning the pictures of the BSZS you use. Technically speaking, you're NOT allowed (as far as I am informed, and don't kill me if I'm wrong) to take any. I think only REIVISION has a mandate for taking the offical pictures and videos. One could check that with them. We are of course not debating the private pictures of your own dogs, and family pictures, but we are talking about the pix of the champions for instance. The mandates for shooting the photo- and video-material are very scarse if I'm correct. The SV even mentions that every year in their monthly magazine, just before the Siegershow. I know you are not defending anyone. I always enjoy reading your (different and abjective) perspectives, always shining another light on a case. Take care now! Talk to you later.

Jantie, why are you putting him down without a chance? How old is this dog anyway? Please think about what you are doing, you do not need to kill a dog because it has one bad hip.

by SGBH on 24 April 2006 - 16:04

Jantie, If you are interested in an alternative, that is not as costly as a total hip and socket replacement, email me privately. My vet has given me a pretty good alternative. I expect to keep my dysplastic female until she dies, unless I find someone that just wants a good pet and will give her a good home. She is just too cool to put down, I'll bet yours is too.

And now, pls return to the subject matter of HD without names, urls, pics to identify. again, you can privately exchange those images/complaints without violating the TOS. thanks.

by Blitzen on 24 April 2006 - 16:04

Saoa, are you or are you not a moderator? Recently you stated in the users comments area that you are NOT a moderator.

by Blitzen on 24 April 2006 - 16:04

SGBH, I'm betting someone will come along who will give your bitch a wonderful home. Hats off to you for not putting her down and for giving her a chance. Why do people think HD is a death sentence? Do they even listen to the voices of experience on this board? How many more need to relate their stories of dysplastic dogs that have outgrown their lameness (or those that have never been lame) and go on to lead a long, happy life. Frankly, I myself would refund money to a buyer who would opt to put down a dysplastic dog without giving it a chance; they would never get another dog from me. This has been a very depressing thread for me; had I realized that the intent was to kill this dog, I'd not have posted my opinions in the first place.

by SGBH on 24 April 2006 - 17:04

I spoke with D.H. over the phone concerning this female as it was my first experience with HD(Got my first pup in 1982) and I was thrown back a bit. I would never put the dog down anyway, but D.H. made me realize what I already knew. "There is so much more to a German Shepherd, than it's hips." That was her direct quote to me. This is a SUPER dog with a heart the size of Texas, a nose to die for(once she puts that nose in the ground, it's there), and is quite intelligent with a great temperament. She has limitations, however. She can not reproduce, or show. Big deal, we all have limitations. Sure a family deserves more for their money, that is why I am replacing the dog for them, but the dog is just a victim of my allowing her parents to mate. Not her fault.
