Brittany writes: ... the folks in germany doesn't sell their best dogs... only their weak and useless dogs... unfortunately people here in the USA will pay anything to get a german import and the germans loves it because thats more money in their accounts. ********************************************* This is pure cacophonous blather, spoken by someone who cannot find their rear end with BOTH hands. She has just slandered an ENTIRE country and has ZERO import experience, to boot. Stephen

We have had both experiences with import dogs. BAD and GREAT!! We learned from the bad,.....and have appreciated the great! Our friends in Germany now have become more like "family" members than friends. Be careful and ask lots of questions!!! There are good people evrywhere......you just have to look.

Stephen, I did not slandered an entire country. As far as experience?!??! Why do I need experience when i can hear it from people who did? and had aweful experience of importing dogs from germany... Are you calling theses people who told me their stories a liar?? Also I've seen SchH rated dogs (1 to a 3) who were imported from germany do shitty protection work. Explain that hotdog. I'm not as stupid as you think Stephen. I do a lot of listening from people who had crappy experience from dishonest german breeders/owners.

Brittany that's pretty unfair. Sure some people in German may sell only their weak and useless dogs but some sell some really great dogs. It's no different than here in the USA. Some people here will royally screw you into thinking you're getting a great dog when the only reason they are selling it is because it bit the neighbors' kids. People here still sell 'toy munchkins' for several thousand dollars when all it is is a glorified mutt consisting of two or three of five or six breeds. Sure some people also sell some great dogs here but look in the paper for breeds known for hip, eye, or hearing problems and call those 'breeders'. Ask about the health checks they did and I'd bet my life that most of them don't even know what OFA is. Probably think it's a pesticide. I know there have been some pretty crappy imports but I've seen some great ones. Generalizing like that puts some really great breeders who love their dogs and are very proud of them in the same catagory as a BYB and it's just unfair. ~Erica~

Brit! VA1 Yasko vom Farbenspiel was sold, outside of Germany. VA1 Bax vd Luisenstrasse was sold, outside of Germany. Ronaldo vom Zellergrund was sold, outside of Germany, VA'd in Canada. Nick vom Ortskern, already SG15 in Germany, sold outside of Germany, VA'd in the US. Never mind countless LGA and BSP competitors, now residing outside of Germany. Never mind all the endless young prospects. The list is HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE and could continue endlessly here. Nope, Germans definitely do not sell their best. It just comes at a price. As to titled dogs. In addition to scores, how the dog is performing today depends on how long its been since it has been titled and how long since it has been worked last. Also often how young the dog was when titled, how fast it was titled, and how well maintained since then. What do you expect from a dog that was titled when not quite 2 years yet, and has done nothing for the last 2 years? Many people expect an out of the box wonder who is a push button machine of some sort. Not gonna work that way. And if you have not established a proper rapport with the dog, the dog is just not gonna work for you. That simple. And no matter how great the dog is, its not going give the new owner better points at the trials if the owner sucks as a handler. Also that simple. And where does it say that a SchH dog has to perform perfectly and do kick ass protection work? That is why there are scores that start with 0, give you a pass at 70, allow you to continue to the next level or KKL at 80 and everything above that should be considered above average. SchH is a versatility sport. How is tracking? How is the obedience? How is the temperament (tested too you know)? Lets see... how great is your Algebra today? Providing you are out of highschool already ;o). Did you bring home straigt A's all the time, were an honour roll student, at the top of your class? So why expect the dogs to do just that? Brit, thanks for clarifying for us that your writing here is entirely based on heresay. You can form an opinion from what you hear and read, that is quite alright, but advice should come from what you know and have experienced. Not everyone needs the best. Good will suffice just fine for most. And a trusted and proven source is a better beginning than most can hope for. Use common sense, trust your gut feeling, keep expectations realistic (the biggest source of disappointment comes from unrealistic expectations), start with the best you can afford, which does not always have to be thousands and thousands.

Well, its a tricky thing in my opinion. I recently imported a dog from a person in Germany. I never met him, never knew him before, I paid him and I got the dog in China. The dog was exactly the same as per the deal, I would rather say that in real dog looks better than the pictures. In this case, its a pure gamble ifi you dont know the person. All is upto your hunch. Or try to find someone in Germany who is your friend and can help you.

Maybe I can help you if i know what kind of dogs are you looking for as I know now someone who is a man of honor. my email address is suhailf@gmail.com

And the bottom line is: "Where is your money?" gomme10mins, a novice, will probably be thinking of spending 1,000, maybe 2,500 dollars. He will get screwed. Others make offers for 100 thousands of dollars and can afford to buy the VA-dogs, Yasko's and Bax's. They will be "content" (French), spelled: NOT screwed. Question: If you only have the money for a Toyota, why buy the Ferrari? (Noticed how people/brokers are stepping your way already? Remember Bette Middler singing: "I can smell a vulture at 100 passes!" Or was it: "a man"?) Living in Germany at that point in time, I once bought a 280SL oldtimer in Phoenix, Arizona. (Nice dry country, no rust to be expected.) But I did it only after sending a Mercedes-Benz expert in, practically crawling through the hood and coming back out of the exhaustpipe to check the car thoroughly. If you don't have an expert stepping in as I said, forget it. Please do read the gsd-standard: especially about "faults". We might be discussing one of them in a couple of months.

Jantie, You no doubt have knowledge of the breed, for this you have my respect, however you seem to be a bit of a bigmouth. Who appointed you the message board police? Some of your posts contain info worth reading, the rest are rude, uncalled for and a waste of space which seems to be a major concern to you.Maybe instead of bitching about infractions of the rules of this board and how many times someone places an ad/or places an ad in the wrong place in your dedication to not filling up the board you should place the blame where it belongs, with the owner of the board.Worried about space? start with deleting the insane amount of archived data and the like,it is of no use and truely takes up space. Your dig toward brokers?uncalled for,a service is provided to people that do not have the knowledge or ability to import a good dog,and yes the litte fees as you call them, well, today you get nothing for nothing,EVERYTHING has a price, even the expert you had crawing through the SL's exhaust system correct? Why are you concerned with gimmie10's bottom line? Do YOU have something to sell him?? Someone has a post you like and want to ad to it fine,if that is not the case why not keep your mouth shut and not read it,nor waste the precious space with a crude or sarcastic reply?Just because one might only have funds for a Toyota does not mean he or she should be belittled because he can not afford a Ferrari. Lighten up a little Jantie,do not take this board to serious,it is after all just a page on a screen of our computers. Not worth getting one s self all fired up for no good reason is there? Best regards to all, Charlie
