Perfect shape for efficient running is square. Horse, greyhund , wolf. The dog in show position does not reveale it but standing freely long rear legs on a working dogs are desired.  I always bring the perfect dog based on Max v Stephanitz Klodo v Boxberg.

Here's a czech dog I once owned, who reminded me much of Klodo.

I believe, when Prager is referring to square, he doesn't mean in the fashion that Linda Shaw describes....

But instead means "square" like this......

Many growing puppies, particularly during the ages 6 to 11 months, go through some really unbalanced and sometimes downright ugly stages as they grow.  A "high in the rear" stage is very common in this age group, and generally if the puppy was of good balance structurally as a young puppy, he will regain that balanced appearance as an adult.

Proper proportion should be10 to 8½.The length is measured from the point of the prosternum or breastbone to the rear edge of the pelvis, the ischial tuberosity. The desirable long proportion is not derived from a long back, but from overall length with relation to height, which is achieved by length of forequarter and length of withers and hindquarter, viewed from the side.
