Clean and dry.  Clean and dry.  That is so important. I just went through a bad paw injury with my dog. :(

Put booties on outside.  And inside, what has helped with the licking for MY dog are a simple thin golf sock (one of mine)...so it is a bit more breathable than a regular bootie....taped on above a joint.  Any tape.  But, my dog will not pull off the tape or socks.  But just another idea.

Finally figured it out.  This is what it looked like a week ago. 14 days post injury.

I will get a picture of what it looks like this week tonight.

Colleen, baby socks work very well for GSDs. They're short, made of cotton, and have an elastic top which fits  right above the pastern. You can easily find the rubberized ones (with those little rubber dots on the bottom) to help the dog maintain traction inside the house. Mine generally keep the socks on, give them a try.

Week 3,   21 days post injury

Here is what it looks like this week.  So far so good.  Oddly enough the cheaper off brand of vet wrap is slightly sticky and provides traction.  eventually we will need a bootie for temp use outdoors, the two that look the best are the all weather muttluck and the grip trex boot.  ( a week or two away)  I am amazed at how much it has filled in and up.
