yup Susan, I find myself explaining to everyone that I tell that my dogs do herding. What exactly I'm talking about! They say, oh I've see those Border Collies herding on TV!

Try Kelly Malone-she's in Ashley, Ohio. She did a really cool herding presentation at our GSDC of Central Ohio club last year. The card she passed out says her business is Karma Performance at email addy karmasreva@aol.com. I think she belongs to the GSDC of Northern Ohio. She does alot of herding training, titling, etc. She has a website, too: http://karmaperformance.com/home.html. That might at least give you an idea of a lead.

Thanks Susan, Lexington is close enough and I'll look into it. And Katjo I've been to the website link you offered.
I also revisited the HERDING PEOPLE!!! post.
I feel inspired . Thank you too Rezkat5.
Beyond the BS most people complain about here, this board has merit.

You are welcome Two moons. The site that Katjo gave focuses more on the gather/fetch type style of sheep herding.
Does your dog have HGH titles behind her/him?
As Susan said, tending has a completely different look to it.

Anyone know of anyone teaching herding around MD/DC or VA? I've been trying to find an instructor around here also....but the one person I found listed on a herding website has a disconnected number :(
Any suggestions?

Cate
I know this is bad, but there are a lot of sheep in DC and I voted for most of them.

LOL..... Don
We must try to make wiser choices this next time. Or start selling wool.
Cate, check out the link to Karmaperformance
best I can do.

You can contact Wendy Frevert at Plum Ridge Training Center. She is in Indiana. Her website is www.plumridgetc.com. She has Aussies and Border Collies, but competes in a lot of herding trials regularly, knows a lot of people that do it with a variety of breeds. I've been to some of the trials with her and there were always at least a few GSDs there, some American and some German lines.
