Don,

Thank you for your PM - I responded.

I do maintain that "draining your account" and "with high prices comes high demand" is a mischaracterization of Ivan's business, including the higher priced puppies that do come with considerably more foundation training.  The price is not a function of Ivan's "name".

For all interested, I'd encourage you to give Ivan a try and inform yourselves about his pricing structure.

Note:  I am not employed by Ivan, have never purchased a dog from him, and I don't play him on TV.  I also did not stay at the holiday in last night.

Cheers!

We will leave the meat and potatos in the PM's, but if even Ivan doesn't recognize that he can charge more because he is Ivan, is idiotic.

One question.  What is the going rate of a high end  8 week mali pup?  What is Ivan charging?    Iam not saying Ivan is Wrong.  Look at the results his dogs produced in 2007.  Besides Ivan's accomplisments, many dogs won numerous regionals and placed well at the Mali nationals.

Don,

As I mentioned before - I didn't say Ivan didn't recognize that he could charge more because he's Ivan.  Your idiotic comments makes no sense.  I implied / stated that what he charges is inline with what others charge, often times much less, having trained with many or purchased from a few.

Puppies that leave his Florida facility for $2k are worth more because they have had better foundation.  His dogs behave differently for a variety of reasons.

"Draining your account" is the gross, dramatic exaggeration here.  A difference in the cost of a puppy from 1000-1500 to 2000 is not.

The request on this thread was about obtaining a dog for a Police Department, not understood as a puppy.

I asked for specific examples of dogs that you know about and their costs sold as PD dogs as compared to what others charge, the artist known as Harrison K9 excluded.

I tried to keep this to PMs, but you keep putting this back up on the board.

The OP stated that he has $15,000 to spend on a dog that is dual purpose and all of the expenses of training.  Now you keep bringing up $2000 and saying that will not drain an account.  I don't know if you understand, but the OP is looking for a trained dog, not an 8 week old puppy for $2000.  Do you realize what Ivan and many others want for a fully trained dual purpose dog?  Add in training, shipping, and all of the expense and yes, the account will be drained.

Ivan was keeping back numerous puppies recently.  His intentions were to put foundation and sell them with a little training.  The starting price was set at $8,000.  What do you think Ivan charges for a dual Purpose?

I like Ivan.  Ivan is probably the best trainer I have ever met.  I stated in my first post of this thread that one of the best police k9s I have ever seen, was trained by Ivan.    You get what you pay for and I merely stated that Ivan can be pricey in that same thread.  You get your panties in a bunch for what reason, I have no idea.    You are very polite in your PMs and I reply.  Then you come on her and ask the same question after I answered in a previous PM.  Just like the Perry lasmon thread, I think you are an attention whore.  I think you need to stir the pot.  Hell, if you want, I'll call Ivan tonight and tell him he is overpriced.  It wouldn't be the first time I was honest.

Mike runs an 80 to 90 dog unit.  I think I would agree that he might be someone to look at.
