Larry Filo is a member of the North American Police work dog assoc  and I imagine Mike Diehl is also..

Don Corleone,

I'm curious: where do you get your facts about pricing and Ivan's dogs?  How do you come to the conclusion that he will "dran your wallet"? Can you help back this statement up?

"but Ivan may drain your account. "

Can you perhaps share facts, figures or experiences?

That's what I thought....

I am a member of the Evansville PD.   We DO NOT use Mals.  I'm not saying that they don't make great police dogs.  But for our department, we have found the shepherds to be the best choice.

We have NOT stopped using Shepherds.  I think the choice is a matter of preference, and mainly relies on what the dogs primary mission is going to be.  Just my opinion.  I prefer the Shepherds here in Indiana....

I second what Cindy said.  Suzanne should be on your list of contacts for GSD's.

Mike Diehl is an excellent recommendation. A few of the members from the local Schutzhund clubs have gone down to Indy to train with him and have also commented on what a decent man he is. Even my husband who is a retired K9 instructor from Germany knows of Mike and says he would be a good person to talk to about getting started.

I will third or fourth Suzanne Eviston. She is also involved with supplying and advising the RCMP with their program, is an instructor for K9 cops, and has been involved with schutzhund since she was about 12, was a decoy trainer for the Vancouver Police dept for years before she became a cop, and is HONEST. A lot of the brokers (most of whom don't seem to work dogs) are NOT. and for God's sake, avoid show-line breeders who have never heald a leash! If they have never trained or titled a dog, how the hell can you expect them to help you? :-) Good Luck!!

I would second Jack's recommendation on Randy Tyson.  .David Witmer (husband) is a former k9 officer for San Jose and they handle most of the Bay Area and specific units.

She has been doing this for years and does not rely on brokers to get her dogs shipped to her.  They go over multiple times a year and do the final selections themselves. I have seen it 1st hand, from dog selection in Europe to the hands on training of the dogs for street, narc and bomb, plus the regular maint classes.
