Clews,

I think we are stuck on Phoenix too!!  It so fits him!!

Allaboutthedawgs,

Thank you for naming our new miracle pup!!  My husband thought it was so appropriate!!  ;-)

Debby,

Thanks!!!  He is something for sure!  He is very special, and already spoiled!!  LOL  I really believe he is going to make it!  Which is a complete shock to me.  Unbelievable!

Dawn,

I will call you in a bit!  Thank you for your prayers, I think we all needed after yesterday!!  LOL

Thanks animules, I was worried also, but I think that if she had more that she had them before she had him, and he was the last!  But that is just an assumption on my part!  But I am relieved it is all over!

So happy for all three of you. I'm glad you like the name, also. Please post a picture if you can. I would love to see my "Godpuppy".  With all due respect to the Don, of course.

Excellent!  Now you can sleep peacefully

I know I only got snatches of sleep for 3 days.

I'm sure that little Phoenix is going to get quite spoiled and deservedly so!  ENJOY HIM BUNCHES! and please get some pictures on here of the little miracle!  What a fighter he is!

dams will sometimes absorb the fetuses.......for whatever reason.  it could be that one or more were dead or not developing; especially since you say she had one that was not fully developed.   good luck with the survivor.  if there is only one pup, the milk production may not last more than 2 wks.  but then again, sometimes they produce far too much.  you will need to keep an eye on that.

once again, best of luck.

You need a new vet.  You need to get her x rayed to see if there are puppies in there and how many.  I did have a similar experiece, not exactly like yours,  but similar.  Get her x-rayed.  If there are puppies in there, then the vet should do an ultrasound and see if they are alive.  If they are then the mother may need a c-section.  The oxytocin will only work if the mother is having contractions, if she has stopped then the drug does nothing but cause harm.  If there are dead puppies in there then you need to watch the mother for a flesh eating bacteria that moves FAST...as in one day you notice a small area of hair loss, a week later you are looking at bone through a large hole in her.  Trust me, it is not pretty.

my email is anitaar@juno.com if you need more help

I'm with palestar. get a better vet. You are running the risk of losing your bitch in a very ugly way. Been there, done that, not a happy outcome!
