She is 16mos old..You should already have her ready for one of them...Are you AKC training or in a club? Are you working on one of the titles now? Is she tracking? or is she ready for BH? That is a pre-scheduling for other titles and is funny to watch them with all the different issues that come up on that day.....even done in the rain...Besure you try the umbrella trick before that day.....!!!!

Kaiser,

This is a difficult question to answer!  On paper I do not like the pedigree.  I think that you could do much better by your female, pedigree wise.  But the real question here is what are your goals with the breeding?  Are you wanting to breed for show or for working ability?  I do not really mind some showline stuff mixed in as long as the showline dog is a STRONG, VERY STRONG working dog.  I think sometimes that the working lines need some better structure, but not at the risk of loosing ANY work ability!

When I look at 2 dogs to breed I look at their working ability first, as I am a SchH enthusiast!  And that is difficult to give you an honest opinion since no one on this board has seen the working ability of the pair that you are asking about.  In a mating I look at the work ability, I look to see in the pedigree what lines are good hip producers, I look to see what each pedigree/dog can bring to the table in drives and temperament and of course, I want good structure, correct structure!

Thanks for the link I am p[rinting it off, long article, But since my bad luck with hips I want to learn all that I can learn. My friend was a K-9 officer in Vietnam and then the police dept. with me I was patrol officer and ironically we ran into each other when I got my 2 yr old and he helped train her. He has taught me a lot and we are (fingers crossed) planning to open a training facility and boarding kennel together soon spoecializing in German Shepherds. He has a few years on me and so much knowledge to pass on and I intend to learn everything he can teach me to train these dogs to be useful members of society whether it be bomb sniffers, SAR, therapy, helper dogs or just plain pets, I just want the breeders to do the best possible they can and if they pop a bad dog with health problems I am hoping we will be able to take them in and place them and leave the breeder name out of it so there won't be a fear that no one will buy their dogs again. Just because they have bad hips doesn't make them useless makes them expensive but the love in their eyes is worth every dime.

good for you.

not all breeders are as you say.  meaning, their answer is to just euthanize the bad ones.  unfortunately, there are some out there like that.

we have one dog where i work, who is considered to be in the "witness protection program" because of a breeder like that.  :)

why on the Jagerstadt website do they have a totally different picture of Jake ( a sable dog)  and indicate that they own him?
