Carole

You do seem to be the only one who can relate statements to context to thread and back again. Perhaps that's because you aren't just poking around for certain bits just to jump on.

Bazza - Ah, this was such a disappointment. For a moment there you were actually displaying independent thought. Shame Viledex didn't keep to his word and not respond .  He just can't help it, and brings the sharks in with him LOL.  I notice he doesn't say whether he is in favour of testing. I think from the response we can probably guess the answer, but it will in any case become obvious.  I would think for someone who has a stud dog that recently produced a living dwarf in a breeding, he might be more up for it. Then again maybe not!

Staying on topic: Should all breeding stock be tested to establish the scale of the problem - yes or no?

No - dogs which are to be bred from should be tested to allow the breeder to make an informed choice of partner. Very few of us could afford this test to establish the scale of the problem - that will be a by-product of lots of breeders taking up the test.

Shirley you are right.

That should read 'all breeding stock' be tested. As mentioned much earlier in the thread. I've amended it.

Carole, like many on here you, and many others, frequently misread posts. I never called you a geek. Although, if the cap fits......

by bazza on 10 December 2010 - 17:12

If I had breeding animals, male, female, I would test, and I would most certainly have the results known. Should all breeding animals be tested? Absolutely, in my opinion, others may disagree, that's up to them. I also agree there are far worse conditions than dwarfism. Sorry to disappoint you my dear Abby, but your last snide comment about the live dwarf proves to me why you have repeatedly BUMPED this thread. You have been gagging to throw that into the mix. You I can safely say are not a disappointment as you are running true to form as always, I would be more disappointed if you were ever positive, not much chance of that.
Did I miss your reply about your involvement with the GSD? lol.

No Bazza you didn't miss it at all. It would be rather pointless telling you what my involvement with GSDs is, you would simply question whether it were true anyway.

Mention of the latest dwarf would never have come into the mix if it hadn't been for Wildmoors post which came across as suggesting problems only exist in colour breedings. It is public knowledge anyway, having been on the PDB. You must have missed it.

The good part of the 'Abby bashing' is that a good kicking on the DB always brings in more views = more people  1) aware if they weren't before 2) may now consider testing = good for the breed. I'll take that along with the kicking.

Too funny!  We now have a martyr in our midst... "my life for the breed"... pmsl.  I take it back, Sarah Bernhardt couldn't hold a candle to you Abnor!  Too funny!
