KNPV in holland started mixing way before the eastern europe did, and their mix malis are bigger and stronger built and better nerves than pedigree dogs,
that is generally speaking as there are also good pedigree malis and bad mixes

Mackenzie thats here to remind us how bad the breed is thinks mixing is ridiculous and causes bad health, I quote;
"
That suggestion is ridiculous. Do you want to see an increase in dogs of mixed races for the sole purpose of seeking something of no purpose or benefit to any particular breed and breeding a sharp increase in health issues. "

"the Am bulldog X malinois video that I posted was actually sold to a contract that stated "only malinois""
Why are you so proud of that!!

As this is a forum for the German Shepherd then whether mixed or pure blood is very relevant. It is one thing to compare one breed against another but out crossing to another breed does not have much of an advantage in sustaining a pure strain with all the benefits that go with it when it is properly carried out. To outcross into another breed is a huge leap into the unknown for both breeds.
To use your success with cattle as an example is completely irrelevant from a point of view of breeding not only as a different breed but also a different species. In any event any conformation show is, on the day, just one persons opinion which often is challenged. I can understand why farmers outcross to other bovine breeding because of the need to produce meat and milk production for income. Also, there is no requirement for cattle to undertake the tasks that we demand from the GSD. One last point on cattle is that they do not breed up as fast as a dog which gives cattle farmers the advantage that problems can be dealt with quickly.
You have not answered the question regarding solutions because you simply do not know even taking into account your vast experience.

OK just for fun and making it up as I go along from someone who has never bred a gsd;
1. Keep the sv rules for now and standard but enforce it to the letter and ruthlessly eliminate any Judges, breeders, decoys etc that cheat.
2. Split schutshund into two venues, one a breeding test that focuses more on instinct & nerve strength. The 100 point system would be eliminated and only pass in 3 levels of pass, outstanding and excellent. There would be no podium or winner. There would still be a 1, 2, 3.
Only dogs with an excellent in 3 would qualify to do competitive sport. I would allow points and have big cash prizes and professional well paid career decoys and judges. Prize money would make training worthwhile.
2. All breeders must be highly educated and committed to all aspects of the breed. No untitled parents could get papers.
3. Start a research fund thru puppy tax to research health issues and maintain genetic databases of all registered dogs.
4. Open stud books to outstanding dogs as required under authorized breeding projects.
5. The sv would have a written legally binding guarantee on all puppies and a venue to handle all complaints by buyers with the power to discipline all breeders or ban them.
.........and more.

this contract said "malinois only"in fact they didnot buy one single purebred malinois, but only mixes that had malinois looks
therefore the claim they ( or anybody else) would make that they only work with malinois or malinois are the best for the job is false, as they are working crossbreeds with malinois looks
by Swarnendu on 26 November 2016 - 11:11
Further, if you sell a cross and say it's a Malinois, that's also cheating, morally, even if not legally..
by Swarnendu on 26 November 2016 - 11:11
It's pretty easy, just remove the yellow sable puppies in the 2nd generation, and sale them as Malinois, and the obvious mals from the third generation also...
Tell me why it's impossible.

Swan. I think you are right
