If I had had to guess when I looked at the pedigree, I would leaned toward the bottom half for creating health problems. Jeck was a nice dog but completely over-used.

As far as the other breeder, perhaps take another look at your contract and see if you think going to small claims would get you financial compensation. I do think in this case it could be warranted, it might be worth having a lawyer take a look.
I'm sorry about the whole ordeal, but I'm glad you're looking forward, not backwards. At the end of the day, it will not bring back your dear Milo.
Enjoy your new pup!

I am embarassesd to say that we never received a Bill of Sale or a contract. When I asked about the health guarantee, I was told that it was on the web site. We do however have a cancelled check.

Well maybe print that out for their website along with the cancelled cheque? I still think you might have a chance if it's on their website.

Even with my litter, I gave a sales contract, including health guarantee. I have learned the hard way too many times not to get everything in writing, even from my best friend.

So sorry for your loss. The new pup is adorable! However, given your most recent heartbreak you might check on the status of OFA hips and elbows on the dam with the breeder as the website lists her as too young and offa.org has no record of Penny vom Patchwork.

I've seen a lot of damn good GSDs that came from breeders that just breed for great companions. Even if they don't have fancy ribbons and trophies piled all over their kennel. I've also seen way too many nervebags with health problems from breeders with fancy ribbons and trophies. Mike, I'd pick the companion GSD breeder any day, just like you did. You'll probably see a PDB slugfest now about how dare anyone buy a GSD whose parents weren't SchH titled or V rated or blah blah blah. Well you went that route and look what it got you. Enjoy your new pup. Your opinion and Rocco's opinion are the only ones that count.
