How sad it is that Vickie cannot even recognize that giving up the dogs *to safety* would do so much toward repairing the too-well deserved negative image she's created so far, as she has always seemed to be concerned about her reputation and how she appears to others. The one action she presently has the power to make happen is the one thing that could unearth some positive thoughts on her behalf, and she's too broken to even see it when it's right in front of her.
I hope you're able to get Sam back soon, and any other dogs are also made safe soon as well.

While Vickie may be very angry, insulted or whatever right now, you did the right thing by making that call. While her threat may have been just a manipulation tatic, you have no way of knowing that or not. Until Vickie can realize and admit to herself there is a problem, she can't be helped.
I hope you will be able to get Sam back and in at least decent health. I'll keep praying for the dogs and Vickie also.

Birgit good luck in getting your dog back. I feel so bad for you and every other person she duped.
I agree with Hexe who said:
"I say the smart move is for whomever has access to Vickie to do whatever it takes to persuade her to give up any dogs that she has anything to do with, whether they're with her or stashed at someone else's place."

"Narcissists DO NOT try to commit suicide. When you love yourself as much as a narcissist does, suicide is not an option."http://www.peaceandhealing.com/psychology/personality-disorders/narcissistic/
Regarding the third myth (that narcissists are prone to suicide, especially in the wake of a life crisis involving a grave narcissistic injury):
Narcissists very rarely commit suicide. They react with suicidal ideation and reactive psychoses to severe stress – but to commit suicide runs against the grain of narcissism. This is more of a Borderline (BPD) behavior. The differential diagnosis of NPD from BPD rests on the absence of attempted suicide and self-mutilation in NPD. http://samvak.tripod.com/narcissismmyths.html
I was being facetious as I recognize her attempts to manipulate as she did the same thing to this lady:

Got an email for me to make arrangements to get Sam back to me. After I tried to make arrangements she threatened me again...... I love the long distance threats! I always tell people "Be careful what you wish for" She does not bother me one bit as I am only concerned about the dogs and I will fight for Sam as I was unable to fight for Hessell.
