FANTASTIC NEWS
From Simone yesterday......
MY DONOR IS FULLY CONFIRMED!!! No more donor tests to wait for! Please remember it is 1:100 000 chance of finding an unrelated donor, God blessed me with one let alone a perfect match! This donor search has been going on since May I think. Now we just need to raise a bit more (R90 000) for the bone marrow harvest and then things can start! Will be doing my viral tests tomorrow. Please pray that these are clear, otherwise we have to treat it and wait 6 months.
I will find out what happened with the raffle tonight and post it.
Wow, I am soooo happy!

Thanks to everyone who donated to this worthy cause - we have raised £892 so far.
It doesn't end here, Simone is getting closer and closer to her potentially life-saving operation so please carry on and make donations.
I will keep you updated on Simone's progress.

Guess whaaat…! My transplant date has been confirmed! 1 December 2010! I have to be there as soon as next week! Not sure exactly when, will find out tomorrow hopefully. Please note, the 1st of December is when the new cells go in. Its not when the chemo starts etc. Which is why I have to next week already so that I can do all the cardiology etc (full medical basically) also to get the central line in and the chemo. So all that has to happen before 1st December.
I am sure a lot of you are wondering how I am feeling about this great news. To be honest, I was not sure whether to cry from happiness or sadness or to run away or jump up and down! I have been waiting on this date for 8 grueling months, and now that it came, I didn’t know what to feel or do! I am very excited for my new beginning but naturally a bit scared. I was saying to everyone it will probably be December or later. I did not realize that December is 3 1/2 weeks away.. We were in Cape Town 2 weeks ago for the consultation, they said it would take 4-6 weeks for the donor to be activated etc. 2 weeks and 1 day later… I have a transplant date! It still feels so unreal. It’s like getting a huge present but its not even Christmas or your Birthday! Expected, but also unexpected. If you understand what I mean.
Thank you to EVERYBODY who reads my blog, supports me, thinks of me and keeps me in their prayers! I appreciate it so much. Keep an eye on the blog, its going to become interesting! We ate ourselves from the bottom of the very tall cake, now we at the cherry!

I am waiting for confirmation from one person that they are OK with me making their name public and then I will post the 5 draw winners.
My job makes me cautious about mentioning people by name without their consent so I am just trying to cross the t's and dot the i's.
If I ever get to the inner sanctum, I'll let you know!
by Penny on 08 November 2010 - 23:11
Do I take it that you didnt enter into the draw then, because Shirley clearly states in her earlier mail that anyone that entered into the draw can contact her privately for the winners, Gotta be in it to win it you know..... and for this particular thread, I thought never in the world could there be any type of a negative comment - how wrong can one be.
Read Simones blog and dont worry about any inner sanctums at this time.
