Red Sable

Who is to say to whom name calling is justified?  That is laughable.  Maybe some feel dishonest breeders are not much better than the Sonia's of this world.
We all (depending where we stand on certain issues) have different opinions on who we feel deserves certain 'titles'.
If it is wrong to one, it is wrong to all, is all WD is trying to say, other wise it is pure hypocrisy.  Any intelligent being should realize that.

Oh brother.

And, meanwhile back at the ranch, Chrissy still has a horribly dysplastic pup with an overbite that will require some surgery.

If anything good comes from this thread, it will be that insight to some peoples ethics change depending on whom is involved in a given situation, and that an online community of GSD owners have stepped up long before a breeder/broker duo did to help a girl and her pup in need.

Those two facts alone make me smile.

It was an added bonus that Chrissy finally rightfully got a full refund including shipping, begrudgingly.

WOW!!! Schafer, you have stated what I have recently deduced from reading hans' posts on his own forum!! Just wish I had not been sucked in so thoroughly over the years, giving him benefit of doubt when he said he told me BEFORE shipping a bitch to me to " don't forget to take the stitches out"!!!! I thought maybe he thought he "mentioned" it to me, but just missed that minor detail that she had a big ol' hematoma in her right ear. There were more hematomas (spelling?) in the months to come to the point where my vet said to prevent any more surgeries under general that cropping her ears would put an end to repeated procedures that were taking a toll on her health. Boy was I gullible!!! Thought he was too honest to f---k me over, sending me a one and a half year old that was to be used for breeding without full disclosure. She's with me still and a great dog temperament, drives, extreme desire to please- every thing a GSD should be; just this one little problem CROPPED EARS!!!! I know, mr hans didn't do that, but he sent me a bitch without giving me the option BEFORE I bought her that she had a f---ked up ear. I would not have bought her had I been given a choice, but other than paying $5,300.00 plus shipping for dog with this problem, she is one of my favorite dog's. PS. He mentioned "the stitches" when he called to let me know he had her at the airport and she was on her way. Ya can't stop the plane in mid-flight, so I figure (in hind sight) that he felt he was home free.

GSD Admin (admin)

If you see abuse, mark it. The mods have spent days on this thread cleaning it. And any further personal attacks will be dealt with by further admin actions. This was a long and fast moving thread and members should not get their panties in a bunch because the admins could not be there every second to clean up. 2 admins have spent considerable time cleaning this thread so if you have an edit or your post is gone, then you should realize that what you said was inappropriate and there should be no whining. I find it funny that one of the people complaining was also guility of calling another member a thief and that members wife also called the same member a thief--with no proof given. My how it is always abuse when it is against you but free speech when you say it. A funny twist of hypocrisy at its best.

The admins have been acussed of not doing their jobs by several people including Hans but not one person marked anything as abuse. Some people say this thread should be deleted as the whole thing is a personal attack and I strongly disagree.

A few members were very immature and vindictive sure but with all that has happened and all the friendships ruined, did you think there would be a different outcome? We all read the things said and whether a few want to admit it or not they acted like 4th graders calling names at the bus stop. Sad and it does say a lot about the people who said those things.

Everyone, feel free to mark abuse and the admins will take a better look and decide from there.

Nice avatar, Chaz. Love it! Where's Ratched?

joanro why did you continue buying from him after that bad experience then?

by Heavy Metal on 05 January 2012 - 17:01

WOW,
Welcome to the all to often ugly world of Dogs!   Like it or not, I'm going to say it...bottom line, professional dog breeders are people who "play god to make a buck".  Sorry it doesnt sound so noble but there is some truth too it.  Most breeders care for the dogs they are breeding but when it comes down to it they are creating living animals for a profit to fund their passion.  Every breeder wants to be more "for the breed than the next".  The only thing that really matters are knowledge, experience and honesty.  Even with all three of these in place many breedings are still going to be a crap shoot.  If you want to continue to make a living off of these dogs and if you truly do "care for the betterment of the breed", you had better damn well be sure your customers are happy.  Whether they are first time gsd owners or spec ops Halo handlers is totally irrellevant. First and foremost they are customers that allow you to do what you do. Buying these dogs is a choice, burn someone and word gets around.  Before you know it you are sitting on alot of pups. This is a self correcting problem in a free market.  Fact of the matter is, there are too many damn dogs out there to begin with.  With so many "Gods" on here its a wonder we all get along as well as we do.

Destiny4u, like I said, I gave him the benefit of doubt. He claimed he told me about it before hand, I figured maybe he just was making an honest mistake. That was only one of two dog's I bought directly from him, sent from his place in Arizona. Before that I bought pups from jiri, with no problems until the last pup I got from jiri two years ago that almost died from coccidia, but after my vey administered fluids, and coccidiacide and antibiotics for secondary gut infection, she recovered. It finally hit me in the most recent transaction with jiri. that hans' actions during and after, I realized that any bennifit of doubt regarding hans' credibility was not justified. I guess some people are slow in realizing the worst in people. But I have learned and hope others don't learn the hard way as well. I never asked anyone " what do you think of this guy?" Now I know first hand and not by others' opinions.

To Hans:

I went to your forum and read your thread about the "attack on PDB" and let me clarify some things for you, because you don't seem to understand what the real issue is. Unfortunately I will have to do that here instead of on your forum because odds are my post will be deleted. In your thread you are constantly harping about Kaiser's hips and how you're being attacked for his hips when the real issue and the reason why people reacted as they did was because a dog was shipped to a customer with a terrible overbite without letting said customer know. I stated several times, and I will say it again, if my dog was only having hip problems then I would've had no problem sticking to your warranty and I'm sure most everyone on the forum would agree you owe me no more then that.

On your thread you keep saying it was a mistake. A mistake is only a mistake if it's unintentional. For you to say Jiri "did not know of the overbite" is not only unthinkable, but an outright lie. Jiri is a breed warden who has been breeding for longer then I've even been alive and he kept 2 pups from this litter for himself and picked one out for you. Do you honestly expect anyone with half a brain to believe that Jiri did not see that overbite? As to whether or not you knew, I wouldn't know. I can only speculate from what I remember seeing you do at the airport. Do I think you knew? Yes I do, but on that end it is your word vs mine and it isn't worth arguing over since there are no provable facts that I can provide. As for your story saying you were going to refund me if his teeth were still bad at 8 months, the first time I've heard of that is on this thread. I fail to see why it wasn't mentioned to me in the handful of emails we had exchanged in the past 6 months and why I was not told when I emailed you about his hips. The only thing you offered me was replacement per your warranty and a firm no on any cash refund, until your name appeared on this thread.

I do agree with you on one thing; some harsh words have been pointed towards you Hans. These are posts charged with emotion, that as Jenni said, does tend to cloud their good intentions to those who read their posts, but I think it also shows how strongly these people feel about how the entire situation was handled. And in that respect I agree with them wholeheartedly. If this was truly a mistake as you say it is I would think any honest businessman would seek to make things right from the very beginning; not 6 months later after it all comes out on the internet. For what it's worth, in the end you did do the right thing. Whether or not it is because of the pressure from PDB, well I'm sure we all have our own opinions on that matter.
