My dogs can go all around the house, if we desire. It keeps the neighbors from coming to the house. I have no dog hair in my food, no muddy foot prints on my furniture and I sleep with my wife. She keeps me warm. I like a near alpha male. Muscles heal and skin grows back, no problem. Besides I like a good challenge.

Both of mine (female showline, male WL) are allowed on the bed whenever they want. My male will often snuggle up against me while my female prefers to sleep at the foot of the bed or at the side of the bed, so when I wake up in the middle of the night and get out of bed I step on her ;) Furniture - they need approval first. Neither of my dogs are dominant and I've never once had an issue with either of them.
Blitzen, that's sad about your first dog. I don't think I'd heard his story before.

My lab sleep at me feet on the bed. our shepherd is allowed on the bed but won't stay there. He MUST me in his crate with the door closed before he can totally relax. Every once in awhile we try to keep him
on the bed but he just isn't comfortable. Now, nap time is different. My wife likes to nap in the afternoon. The shepherd snuggles with her as close as possible during their nap. It's funny, even after my wife
gets up from her nap Markus will stay sleeping on the bed until he's called out.
Our problem is trying to figure out where the new puppy is going to sleep when we get her in a few months!
