He's a good looking working dog........

If he knows some czech commands, I would bet my bottom dollar someone is missing him.  So sad for the owner.  If this dog was on vacation or was stolen, the owner may not know who to contact.

He could be a master Houdini like my Baron.  Not a fence or a yard will keep Baron in.  If he wants out for a run, he is gone for hours.  It could be the same with this guy.

Has anyone had a chance to contact the different professional trainers in the NW US (the trainers that teach in czech) to see if they recognize the dog?  This may not be a feasible thing though.

Yes, Blitzen! That's her name- Joan Ford. I talked to Barb yesterday...don't know why I didn't remember to ask. I'm sort of interested in what happened when where the split is concerned.

I assume Timber was posted on Facebook and other popular sites for lost dogs? Isn't there a lost and found site that is supposed to be pretty good? Poor dog- and poor owner if they are indeed looking for him.

It's hard to understand, but it's not all that unusual for rescues to get GSD's that are obviously trained and will respond to commands in different languages if tested. I'm sure Steph sees it all the time. It doesn't necesssarily mean their owners are looking for them.  When Camp Wolfgang was still in business they had a female that was Va rated, I THINK at the German Sieger. She was too old to breed anymore so off she went to rescue. Some owners/breeders consider dogs to be throw aways when they are no longer of any use to them. I was once into the rescue thing, another breed, but you would be amazed at the high quality dogs I fostered or had abandoned when I boarded them.

I cannot imagine.  After all the love, time, and money put into an animal, then just throwing it away.   No living thing should be disposable.  (I digress to a soap box....)

It is like the other post of the 3 girls rescued by Marjorie.  The black one is especially a knock out.

One dog I took only lacked 2 points for his AKC CH and had already won a very big specialty show. His owner decided she really wanted Rotties so he was no longer welcome at her house. I paid his freight from Alaska to PA; showed him one time and he finshed his title with another specialty win by defeating a record number of dogs. Go figure what people expect from a dog.

"The more I meet people, the more I like my dogs."  Humans were given the responsibility to take care of Earth and all its life.  Aren't we as a species doing a great job? Roll eyes

There is a special place in heaven for the good people here who work to take care of the "throw away" dogs.

You are one of them, Fawn! Who could forget how you stepped up to the plate to foster the Teaxas boy on death row....That bought him the extra time to allow someone local to step up. Without an offer of  foster, his life would have been snuffed out before he even got a cchance to be adopted!

Fawn and Blitzen Kudos to both of you for helping in a time of need. And you never know what you will get. When I first moved back here somebody called me and said there was a mal in the shelter down the road. The story was the dog had belonged to a deputy sheriff in the county down the road and was being trained for K9 work in the next county down. Deputy dropped dead of a heartattack one day, wife hated the dog and after she couldn't talk anyone into putting him down, he eventually ended up in the shelter. By the time I got down there to get him out he was already adopted. So you just never know..............

BTW Steph send me your website addy and I will link you in to the adoption page I am going to put up. Anybody else that does rescue on here I will be glad to do the same for you. I put it on the other thread but here it is again--vonissk@yahoo.com .

We didn't call it rescue then, Vonissk, we just took in dogs no one wanted and tried to find them homes. That's how I ended up with 14 dogs LOL. In any case, it's a good thing.
