Diamond doesn't make th Kirkland dog foods sold in Canada do they?  I am trying to recall the last big recall that Diamond had a couple of years ago that affectd Kirkland foods and I remember that it did not affect the ones sold in Canada as they were not manufacured by Diamond.

can anyone verify?  Both Kirkland Lamb and Rice and ND Salmon and Sweet Potato are still on the shelves here.

I'd double check the UPC labels. The UK was not supposed to be affected by this recall but my TOTW bag was.

Siantha I thought dogs couldn't get salmonella as their digestive tracts could deal with it and it was more of an issue for owners handling the food or their licking or their poop?

It's not that they CAN'T get it; it's just less likely that they will get it than a human, due to their shorter digestive tract with it's much stronger acids/enzymes/etc. This is one reason kibble and raw together is a bad idea; the kibble takes soooo long to digest that things like salmonella sit there longer than they should, waiting on the kibble, and it gives them time multiply and do their thing to make the dog sick.

Only one way to be sure what yor dog is eating, grow your own ingredients and make your own food.

Blue Buffalo has had a lot of reported problems.  Look at this link and then Google Blue Buffalo Killed dog:

also this link might help:

I have just had problems with an unrecalled bag of Diamond Naturals grain and say free Lamb and Rice.  If not raw I am sticking with Fromms Gold.  Family owned, family made, USA only for dry and human grade no corn, wheat, soy..duck first ingredient and only vit E as preservative.  Never again with anything touched by Diamond.  I do NOT trust them to tell the truth about what is really going on.

H4j, what problems? How manifested?

All 4 semi-loose stool which went away when the Diamond was stopped and one started chewing his paws and had some yeast and bacteria in his ear.

This never happened with the Fromms.  Also their coats are so shiny w/ Fromms and I like their muscles..seem to be in really great physical shape on Fromms.

Elkoorr, the info came from a pet food distributor.  They make a point of sending out ALL notices they get from companies, usually before anything has been "officially" released.

I recomend the book "Food Pets Die For", if you want a little more info on commercial dog food. I've switched to raw/home-made for about 2 years now, could not be happier with the results.
