Thanks, starrchar. It would be tragic to produce a dog with DM when there is DNA available.

Blitzen, you keep explaining things that aren't at all what I'm saying. WHY NOT post it on every affected or carrying dog's pedigree on here if it's so prevalent? That way, when Joe Newbie is researching peds, clicking here and there, looking at litters, it would show up, right by hips and elbows. You think more people looking at dogs to consider go to this website or OFA's? How many people even know about that aspect of the site? How many newbies even know to do their homework on it? If it's right there on the ped, they're much more likely to look it up and see what the hell it is.

I really don't care enough to look at OFA's website, to be blunt. I have no reason to do that. My point was that for people looking for dogs, people doing research, and general awareness, I think a DM status on here would be helpful to those people; if people start seeing dogs whose breeding is similar to their own marked as carriers or at risk, I'll bet they'll be more apt to test.

Sorry, but I find your posts hard to follow. I'm not intentionally avoiding an answer.

Maybe breeders are doing that now, Jenni. I don't know. I think someone did make the suggestion that Oli generates some sort of option to list DM status with the pedigree information. Maybe he will do that.

Why do breeders need to see pedigrees of at risks and carriers to know that their dogs should be tested? Do you know of lines that are not involved?

I think that owners should not just test their dogs but submit ALL results to OFA.  I am waiting to here back about my puppy but I signed the form to post her results, publically, even if it is a bad result. I think it's important that the information is made available to everyone as it will only benefit the breed in the long run.

Also, I also submitted her DNA to OFAs CHIC Repository so please think of adding this to your DM test. I am pretty sure I didn't pay anything and the DNA that is stored from your dog might help to cure some diseases some day....

Good idea to also send DNA to the CHIC repository.

I don't think OFA will list the results of tests that were not done through them.

Just got my pup's test back from OFA and she is Normal N/N. Phew!!!!

Good for you for testing your girl, Smiley. I'm glad she tested normal.
