I wish I had a PSA clubs around here. People want to do it but they more want than they do! I love this state but it sucks here for the dog training.
I am gratefull I have the opportunity to work with somebody who has the feel for dogs. But we don't have enough people.

Well I haven't kept up with the west coast much though i do know they have done some restructuring this year to rebuild and expands the number of clubs out there. so hopefully over the next couple years it will expand substantially to revive the involvement, sustain the professionalism, and elevate decoy training.
 
So hopefully things will become more prevelant and available for you soon!

thanks to everyone who said nice things about him.  My current dog I am also doing SchH and PSA with. 

If you are going to do both with the same dog...I Strongly recommend doing SchH first, it provides a good foundation one can branch out from (if you have the right dog).  Going from PSA to SchH or doing both at the same time can create alot of grey area to the dog...and his/her perfomance in SchH will suffer to one degree or another....how much depends on the dog.

I love both sports for different reasons, and doing both as well as other venues and also decoying has given me a much broader understanding of the working dog.

PSA will be gone in 2 years.  Do you honestly think that to test a dog it has to do bite work alone?  A bunch of goofs yelling and screaming and falling down with dogs on leashes?  Funny, FR puts a pretty damn good test on a dog and the decoy never makes a peep.  Testing dogs mentally,  to me is a better test than standing over him shouting "Look, I think I broke his freakin' neck".

GSDPack...there are some midwest PSA trials coming up.  There is a PSA trial coming up the beginning of March here in AZ.

My dog will be too young to compete as he is only 6 months old right now.  I will be doing both and will be doign SchH first before going to PSA.

Ace, you are fantastic.... the only problem is that beside me being also a full time student..I live about 12 hours North from Vegas... love the Pacific Northwest!

All the dogs is our club cross train in Sch and PSA . Schutzhund serves as our obedience foundation as it is my opinion obedience is obedience and there is no need to differentiate. All our dogs protection foundation is done on a sleeve then transfered to a suit. Our club is fairly young but our GSD's  are having success. These are the Shepherds in our club

And as for the PSA will be gone in two years quote there have been uninformed individuals that has been predicting the demise of PSA for the last 10 years!!  PSA is alive and well and just experienced one of its most successful trial seasons.  I think the 400 spectators and 20+ competitors at last years Nationals would agree. http://www.psanationals.com  We expect this 10th Anniversary year to be even better!!

those are very nice accomplishments.
I agree I put foundation through sleeve and then I trial in SchH and then I transfer the dog to suit. bites are fuller, stronger and they love it since it is easier to bite! Ob is given and by then they have nice foundation on tracking and I like to do FH also..but you know FH is easy and stupit and most of the people who never taught a dog to track think it is unecessary... love them knowitalls, neved done crap people.

Good luck! Maybe, one day I will do a tour where I just focus in trialing my dogs in PSA. I love the sport. Every sport makes us better trainers when we learn to understand the dog.

While I do have some issues with PSA....they are few compared to the issues I have with FR. PSA could be a great thing IMO.

PSA is much more about the dog than FR is or will ever be.
