I'm in Ontario too! :) That is good to know, it will make puppynapping Bosco SO much easier ;)  Will he jump in my car if I leave the door open and a mountain of treats on the seat? LOL  We also have the same name, so it seems like he should be mine. Ha ha. He's really beautiful, you must be really proud to have him.

(You guys are probably starting to realize I am the queen of derailing threads :/ I don't even know how - it all starts off on a related note, then I just go sideways)

Ok, back to your regualry scheduled thread...

LOL. And it was such a very serious thread topic too. :)

And yes, I'm really happy with Bosco- he has a really jolly / upbeat personality that I love. I think his breeder did a really good job of selecting a puppy that suited me.

Lol these are some lovely xbreeds we all have, since the 80's i have had blacks and Bi's and have always been asked are they lab x's, both mine are Orry related and the female i have been told is a black Mali, experienced public :/

A black Mal, please tell me that isn't a real color or I will start taking meth (to keep up) and buy one lol!

I have personally seen and worked a black Mali, so they are out there. NICE dog, tough as nails

Better yet, I had some lady tell me in the vet that my male and her female would make BEAUTIFUL puppies.... um... NOT. At
least she knew he was a GSD.

I don't know a Civic or Accord from Camry.  When someone says they got a new _____ car, I nod my head and pretend it must be sweet.  At a club I visited, I didn't know what kind of mastify looking dog was being worked and it turned out it was a Cane Corso.

Sure, its rude of someone to argue with you; but they are stupid/ignorant because they've never seen all the different colors of a German Shepherd?

mfh27, it's not stupid to not know colors of a breed......but when they go around saying that can't be a Shepherd, they don't come in those colors, or vets refuse to care for the "wolf hybrids", or people act like you're an idiot and say don't know what you're talking about when you say your black sable GSD is a GSD, or when they try to "educate you" on the real Shepherds (in their mind), the "German lines ones" that are black/tan and 150 lbs, even though they aren't actually German lines, and they're ridiculously out of the standards.....well, yeah, that's rude, and annoying.

Funny I get the is your dog a Lab Shepherd mix a ton, my response is no she is a Shepherd, Shepherd mix then they stare at me kinda weird while their brains process it. I have heard wolf before, though honestly the vast majority look at her and say wow what kind of dog is that then are amazed that Shepherds come in black. I think half the time they think I am lying...and thinks she is a mutt anyways lol.

I think some people's stories here about what people think their GSD is are funny.  Yes its rude and annoying for people to argue with you and disagree with you about what breed of do you have.  But no I dont think people are stupid if they cant recognize a GSD nor realize the standard is not 150lb

My only point is that it is not common knowledge what a GSD looks like, so we should still treat those who dont know with respect...and then come on a GSD forum and laugh at them later.

^^^ Fenir, this makes me laugh ^^^

I've had the "wow that dog has ears like a GSD, what kind of dog is it?" with my black dogs. I tell them what kind of dog it is and they inform me GSD's aren't black. I gave up explaining, I just say ok and go about my business.

I had someone about a year and half ago, ask if my 4 month old pup was a minature (I guess cause her ears were up).

Thanks for the laughs guys.
