macrowe , you are not at such big risk if breeder is selling a dog of his own breeding , any breeder/dealer type of thing bring risks , that even the breeder/dealer him/herself can be unaware of , as they have to go by the information they get from their supplier

my guess is this is what happened with original posters dogs to

Czech papers with incorrect information on them?  I'm shocked!

I have imported or arranged the importation of over 15 dogs from Czech Republic....paperwork was always fine.

"I have imported or arranged the importation of over 15 dogs from Czech Republic....paperwork was always fine."

And if the lineage of the dog you were importing or the health certifications of the dogs listed wasn't as stated, you would know this how, exactly?

by Gustav on 22 January 2012 - 14:01

Same way you would if you imported from Germany or Belgium....that shouldn't shock you.

you never know exactly what you get from europe or anywhere else as far as that goes.
a buyer buys not knowing if the dog he or she purchases is of the line they think they are getting.
if you give it some thought, how hard would it be to say this pup came from the breeding of: super dog X  demon rattler? you can't! you can only hope.
heck, the breedwarden in one country is one of the biggest breeders in europe.
what bloodlines do you have? are you sure about that? without dna,you don't, you can only guess.

Of course it's true that there have probably been scofflaws in any of the countries from which one might import a dog but even recent history might suggest to most people that it was and still is the norm in some places rather than the exception.  The degree to which anyone is likely to bend the rules is directly proportional to the lack of checks and balances in place to prevent them from doing so.  The Germans, even those who found themselves on the wrong side of the wall, have always been meticulous record keepers.  Not amazingly, we don't see the same number of odd health issues cropping up in lines where you wouldn't expect them or outright obvious fraud associated with the paperwork accompanying the dogs coming from the west or, for the most part, even from the former DDR.

To equate Western Europe with most of the eastern bloc countries is to deny the realities of life in the USSR for almost half a century, despite the insistence otherwise by those with a monetary interest in these dogs.  As always, each individual is free to believe whatever he/she wants but I'm sure you'll understand if I don't share your enthusiasm for the record keeping prowess of those in a part of the world where they couldn't quite account for the whereabouts of their nuclear weapons when the time came to do so.

yeah keith , like all americans have a clue were and by who american wheapons and money are used LOL

by Gustav on 23 January 2012 - 14:01

You are not certainly equating the health of the meticulous German SL dogs and the health of the fraudulent Eastern bloc GS. Look, I can only speak for my experiences and my dogs and I have not had problems with the Czech papers or importation practice. Whatever your opinion is, is fine with me, you do it your way, me mine, and we let our dogs speak for both of us.
