[agrees with Bee...]
Personally, would love to give this dog a herding instinct test, and see how he did!
The amount of good genetics in his pedigree is definitely much greater than the poor genetics.

well, let me preface this comment by saying that I have had, bred , owned AKC/CKC Champions. Traveled to Germany and picked out dog that came to the U.S. and was Southeastern Siegeren in 2011. Also re certified her at proper time. She also did O.K. in her only AKC Show.
I have also had, owned, bred AKC/CKC GSD Champions with the person considered to be the #1 American GSD Bredder/Judge in the USA today.
Had a few otter top winners along the way.
I say all that to say this. I have not seen one post from one person who has done anything with the GSD other than scoop poop and post on an internet board.
The American GSD is bred to no standard than front shoulder reach. I have put majors on dogs running hysterically from my footsteps. Bred to top GSD that was not strong enough to stand on his rear and had to be supported by owner. The flakier they are, the harder they run, the higher they place.
The German Dogs {SL} can also be weak in character. But at least they have to show it in public. My bitch, Wandy Von Hauswalder Bach, had a bad day when she recertified, but she had traveled 14 hrs, and still passed.
The difference is that absolutely no attention is given to character of the American GSD for placement, the German Dog, no matter how weak, must pass the test in public and everyone can decide for them self.
