Thank YOu Ibrahim, for addressing the unkind clinch of the fist we experienced here on your wonderful appreciation to Gustav.

We know you live in peace and are the most kind hearted man on this PDB . I wish you wonderful days with your new puppy and we need Gustav here as other men of the breed.

I was discussing with another member of PDB ,yesterday of the line of Triumphs' Gucci and how the man who we attribute Gucci to, was  a man who lived the love of the breed and how many people he influened and touched by his love and knowledge.

WE need more love and kindness to teach us , that is how the German Shepherd is to be...the breed is to shepherd with loyality and be a protector in the same body..with beauty and health .   A working dog wrapped in a showCOAT...'  I believe that was the description  used quite often by men of the breed originating with Triumphs' Gucci..

SO there is no reason to fret over one persons VOID of humble words.

as ever

Yellowrose of Texas

If anyone wants to watch us all work our dogs, come to any regional trial or come join us at our dog training sessions..

As has been mentioned by many members, the workers and the ones who work , train and want the best are not on this forum , and most all of them will never ever come back here.

Ibrahim, your words are very reflective of where I am in life today. My biggest joy in life today are my two girls who are very successful, are wonderful parents and nice people. At holidays my wife and I laugh as they recount how I raised them as I trained my dogs, ( the oldest who is Bank executive always chimes in the Koehler" method, as they lovingly recount stories of boundaries and structure that I insisted on. My youngest daughter said to me, " Daddy, I remember when I told you I hated you when you wouldn't let me have something that was popular, but I now see wasn't necessary....And you told me it's my choice to love or hate you, but you will respect me under my roof, and when you become an adult and understand why I am doing what I do, then maybe it will turn to love. She said, "this has Soooooo become true as I deal with my 13 year daughter."

Folks, no I will seldom post anymore, there comes a time you sit back and watch things occur as they play out.   I have a training class on Sunday mornings of about 10 to 15 people with German Shepherds. Most are members of an AKC breed club, are 2/3 have dogs that I have helped them get....from imports, from American breeders that only title, from American breeders that do sport but don't title much of their stock, and I must say that all of these dogs look very good and all have very good temperament. Their dogs are learning tracking, obedience, and sport protection, but more importantly they are learning. My greatest satisfaction is when they constantly remark about how many ignorant things they were taught in past...ie...if you play tug with a puppy then it will grow up and try to dominate you, or if you teach your dog to do protection they will bite indiscriminately or become viscous......my sadness comes from the fact that many of these folks are older and I don't see the energy in the youth of today to put in the " work" to preserve the breed. Because it takes work to maintain the breed by the stewards, I mean that figuratively and literally. The stewards of this breed must be experienced in the history, genetics and training/working, so that ludicrous information about the breed cannot be proliferated and solid sound advice can be given. A judge of any aspect of the breed should have practical experience in all three of them areas, or else you will have Judges, that are not corrupted by money or popularity only, but are corrupted by a lack of understanding and knowledge of soundness fit for utility.

Anyway, let's shut this down as it is not about me, but about the one thing we have in common and that is our beloved breed. Thanks everyone, take care, and let's keep our breed noble!

The fact is - many threads are being hijacked by vk.  Maybe it's time to ignore his incessant needling and assume he is some pimply faced kid who has nothing better to do than play with a computer and pick his nose.

For what it's worth I'm a young guy and I'm all about learning about the breed and possibly doing my part in preserving it in the near future.  I don't post much because I rather read and listen then comment.  But I've learned from VK as well as BZ.  I'm sure there are plenty of "newbs" that rather not post and get flamed, like me :).

Just to add to this thread, Gustav has come to my home to assess a 12 week pup.  He spent hours talking to me and my wife as well as my father in law.  My father in law kept saying how knowledgeable Gustav was.  The fact is I don't know him that well, but he will answer my calls and throw knowledge at you regarding the breed and training for hours.  My problem is I'm like a dog pulling on the leash, I want to move fast and take off when right now I have to be patient.  I definitely have the bug... As my wife, it bit me hard!  I'm all about this breed, yeah the Mals and the DS have their place but there is nothing like my 5 month old WL GSD.  He's my best bud..

thank everyone for their posts, because they do get read.  And a big shout out to the humble Gustav.  Even if you're a pain he will still help you out lol

I'd like to thank Gustav and you too, Ibrahim for all the information you share. I always look for your posts and learn something from both of you. I farm and don't have much time for typing and reading in non-winter months but I've been checking in on this forum off and on for about 6 years and I must admit I've been somewhat baffled by the confrontational attitude of some posters. It is a real shame those people can't carry on their little 'thing's' elsewhere and not clog up this otherwise great resource. What is more of a shame is that Gustav (and probably lots of others) don't bother to post much anymore for obvious reasons.

I just wish I lived anywhere near Gustav so I could join his group and become better trained! Lucky you Templars!

Thank you alienor and Templars, it is an honor you posted on a thread I started, thank you for sharing your thoughts
